Trying to decide which way to go. So, what are the pros and/or cons of each?

I can only say that if you have to choose between Ensim and Plesk, just go with Plesk. It's way more stable and reliable than Ensim.

PLESK better for reselling, though you can buy a script for reselling on ensim I believe.

PLESK is nice and easy to install and uninstall while ensim is hard to uninstall.

PLESK is quite a bit more stable.

But hey, that is a biased view ;)

Wouldn't quite agree on that. Ensim does run pretty stable in my experience with it, but I'd still say Plesk for the simple reason that it uses the original Redhat files more than Ensim. The Ensim file system at times is a real nightmare to change certain settings etc. because the file structure is different. Also updating things like PHP and mySQL is a fine art with Ensim (I haven't really tried this, just stating what I've read here and there).

[I stand corrected on the LS 3.1 release date issue, I was incorrectly informed by one of their reps, very sorry. I was told the release for LS 3.1 (for Linux) was planned for April.]

Personally, if I had the cash, I would use neither. I'd use CPanel or H-Sphere as they seem to have far better support and good reputations. [I also stand corrected on this as far as CPANEL is concerned.]

Ensim is a nice cheap solution and it does work and as you work more with it you slowly do get the hang of it, but expect to invest a lot of time into it.

One last thing. Plesk can be easily uninstalled why the only effective way of uninstalling Ensim to my knowledge is formatting the hard drive.

If I had a chance to remake my decision (I was also stuck in a toss between the 2) I would now say Plesk. A number of months ago I chose Ensim, simply because I was able to get a very nice price on it due to certain circumstances, but there are quite a few times I regret my choice. [I wasn't serious about dumping Ensim. I do like it because it's very secure. It's marvelous what nonsense I can type at 3 AM on a school night, well, college night then :p ]

To others: Please feel free to flame me over this, it's just my opinion... [I told you I'd get flamed over this post, I just know seeing it was so late and I was spewing out a load of nonsense]

<edit>tazzman, no hard feelings, we all have nights like that. :)</edit>

Tazzman, since you invite people to flame you over, I will rightly do so.

Actually, I don't have time to flame you over, but there are very important points that you seem to have missed.

If I remember correctly, ensim only promise the windows version in late april, the LS 3.1 is set for late may/early june. Pleak exceeded their deadline by over a year to release PSA 2.0.

Cpanel may have good reputation on feature, but certainly not on support. You should look at some of the complaints at cpanel; besides bug, its the lack of support.

I just thought I should make sure the facts get out staight.

In terms of overall security, Ensim crushes Plesk. That's the main reason I like it (can't beat the chrooted user accounts ;))

Choosing a control panel is like buying any product - each product has its own advantages and dissadvantages. You need to decide whats important to you and make an informed choice.

That's correct. You better try out their online demos and decide which one that you prefer to go and suit your needs better.

Steph,

Why don't you consider Sphera as well? I know we're really happy with them.
