Hi Guys.

Hoping someone can help me out on this one as we're totally in the dark.

We've started to sell to the US and we're trying to find out what the US equivalanets of 845 (local rate numbers) and 0870 (national rate numbers) are in the states?

Can anyone shed some light?

May I ask what it is for? If your wanting to offer support to your customers US toll free numbers are really cheap compared to UK.

Thanks sparky.

Basically we're looking for something similar to what we have now UK wise where we can have 1 number that clients can ring that then slits to sales, support and billing but that can be forwarded to a UK number.

Ok then. If your wanting it to be forwarded to a UK landline you can get the numbers for pretty cheap, with a small cost per minute.

I advise Sixtel for this.

We don't have local / national numbers, we have area codes. IE my phone number is (218) 626-1599, so anyone within my area code (218) can call me locally, while anyone else needs to dial long-distance (national).

You would be best off getting a Toll-Free (800/866/877) phone number that doesnt cost the client anything, and you will generally pay anywhere from $0.02 to 0.05 per minute for the incoming call routed to your own phone number.

We have area codes too - same as you Aaron.

But we have different priced numbers...

Your 800 is the equivelant to our 0800.

I believe you have paid numbers too (which we also have).

I'm not sure how lower price per minute your paid numbers go though which is probably what you are referring to.

We have local numbers (within the same area code, an area code usually ranges for a few cities within each state), long distant numbers (anyone outside of your area code, ex. different state), toll free numbers (800, 888, 866), and paid numbers (where the person operating the number can decide the per minute charge, usually for hotlines, etc...).
