I am getting ready to do a reinstall of my Operating System. I am wondering what files I need to back up to keep the following:

Eudora Pro - All mailboxes including sent items. Address book and filters.

CuteFTP - I would like to keep all the ftp sites I have in the site manager.

What do I need to backup to do this?

Thanks, Andyc

Not sure about the first one, but in cute ftp, couldn't you use a pen/paper, or in the very least notepad (text editor), jot down the the information or print it out? :eek3: Yes it is old fashion, but it would work ;)

Depending on your version of CuteFTP, the file is either smdata.dat or tree.dat, located in the CuteFTP program folder.

Its also a good idea to backup your registration info, which is found in cuteftp.key (if using 2.x) or by going to: "Help >Backup registration and personal data" (for 3.5 or 4.x)

Hope this helps

Does the same thing apply to Cute FTP Pro v1.0 ?

In Cute FTP Pro, you would use "File > Site Manager > Export Site Info".

Hope this helps ;)

An easy way with Eudora is backing up all files, installing the programme under re-installed OS and copying old Eudora files to its folder.

If you want to back up the data files only then you will need to save all *.mbx, *.toc and *.txt files (mailboxes and address book). If you created individual folders for mailboxes, copy them too (these folders have *.fol extension). Attachments are usually stored in the Attach folder.
Filters - filters.pce, If you want to avoid configuring the programme - don't forget about eudora.ini.

Good luck,
