View Full Version : Godaddy problem :(
laydee 04-30-2006, 12:35 PM I submitted a support ticket to Godaddy about domain transfer prices and that and I was asked to contact the billing department because they could'nt answer my question! and I did contact billing and I received no reply.
I then submitted another ticket again and I haven't received a reply in a verry looonnng time (over 9 hours as stated on their site).
Do you think Godaddy is ignoring me? :P or is simply trying to find me a decent answer?
artvision 04-30-2006, 12:44 PM Sometime they answer emails too slowly.
Try to call them: Sales -(480) 505-8877, Billing Support -(480) 505-8855
Dave Zan 04-30-2006, 07:58 PM Why not check their website first? Or are you looking to get discounts for bulk?
On the side, why transfer to Go Daddy?
technanny 04-30-2006, 10:12 PM I would recommend to call. They do have very good phone service

Everyone's been telling me that GoDaddy is a superb domain registrar!
...or not? :o
I don't know where to go actually. I have 5 domains on an enom reseller but I want them all in one place. I would like to transfer my domains to Namecheap but I need the WHOIS protection and it is expensive at Namecheap!

Of course I read!
I mean, I don't even want to waste my personal time on things :P
I was basically talking about 2 tickets I sent like days ago :P :P
But nvm, I'll transfer my domains to Godaddy anyway...and the Q was about their 10 point value thing :P
technanny 05-01-2006, 11:41 AM I normally just use phone service with Godaddy, it is aways good
Brushed-Red 05-01-2006, 01:59 PM Yes, their phone support is very quick and reliable...

Looks like you overlooked this one:
http://www.namecheap.com/learn/privacy-protection/whoisguard-whois-protection.asp
WhoisGuard Protect One @ $2.88/yr
Protects One Domain
As Low as $2.88/yr
Currently Free With New Registrations and Transfers
I'm in the midst of transferring one of my domain names to them. Can hardly wait! :)
It's even cheaper if you buy in bulk. The propect of registration, free email/url forwarding, dns management AND privacy for around $10 is a very attractive proposition, imho.
dreamdatum 05-01-2006, 08:26 PM Thanks all for the valuable info...
I was also considering getting GoDaddy...
but i went for unbeatinghosting.com
technanny 05-01-2006, 09:38 PM I would never recommend using a reseller, Godaddy is icann accredited

So, what? There are plenty of GoDaddy/WWD resellers that are selling domain registrations and renewals cheaper than GoDaddy itself. The quality of service and support is absolutely the same as they use the same data center and support infrastructure. ICANN accredited or not - there isn't any difference for the end users whatsoever!

The thing is, if I buy in bulk (was planning to buy the 5 WHOIS bulk thing), I can only activate the protections at different times because my domains expire at different times of the year...isn't that bad then? :/
p.s- they have finally replied to my ticket :P
wildbest 05-02-2006, 06:42 AM Not necessarily. Firstly, you can purchase privacy any time and this will come into effect immediately, but will be prorated until the domain name expiration date. Other approach is the so called synchronization. You can synchronize your domain expiration dates to expire all on one date and purchase privacy in one purchase order for all of them.

:o Yes! I need this synchronisation thing! I never knew it existed though :P
Bill48105 05-02-2006, 03:49 PM I've used the sync option at godaddy (good luck finding it on any of their menus, not sure why they hide it..) for a few domains and it worked well. I was glad they didn't seem to rip you off for this, it's just prorated for the # of months to extend the domain expiring 1st with one expiring last (which is the cheapest route) otherwise you pick a date and they calculate the prorated cost. I think it was like $3 each for the ones I did for 4 months.
As far as godaddy support, yeah definitely call if you're in a hurry.. They seem to take their time answering emails, maybe in hopes find the answer yourself or give up. lol
