Hi,

How many domains are you looking to host? Bandwidth / Diskspace?

Prefered Control Panel? Helm etc :)

If you give CyberHost a shout they may be able to customise the plan for you to include the extra databases you need.

Other than that, have a search on here or some of the big Search engines to see what they come up with.

You can look at hsphere as a possible way to go. I know that cartikahosting.com (http://www.cartikahosting.com) provides good services.

What about something with a US facility? Dallas/Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, or DC?

Thanks for the kind words Gary !

Our servers are all located in Dallas, Texas.

Other h-sphere providers with servers in the US are jodohost and vortech.

Hope this helps...

Before choosing a host, be sure to check for support, send in test tickets. As allot of hosts only have limited support, look for a host with 24x7 support and telephone support if needed.

Thanks

thanks for help people... :peace: cyberhostpro.com looks good but only this so low limit of databases..

I see http://www.pronethosting.net/winresellerhosting.php
has unlimited MS SQL and MySQL databases...

I don't expect that my users will have unlimited databases, but it is nice to see in marketing.. users use max. few databases per domain usualy in reality always...

If have more recomendations like that, post here..

I believe Cyber Host Pro's new Reseller plans that are coming out mid May/June, are more expensive but include allot more MS SQL databases, maybe worth looking into then ;-)

Well Cyber Host Pro is kinda pricey for me... but CartikaHosting may have US servers, but how does one figure the hosting fees? Do you have set US$ plans, or do the plans flucuate with the exchange rate?

Well, theres 2 ways to look at this - we could have just sold our packages in US dollars like other "non US" companies - or, we could charge in our currency - which means it will fluctuate from month to month - however, unless the Canadian dollar becomes more valuable then the US dollar, you will be getting a discount each month - the question becomes, how large is the discount? and this will depend on the exchange rate...

Cyber host pro offer 24x7 support and I think it's worth paying the extra for that level of support especially if you were to have an issue!

When we started out, we wouldn't even look at a company who didn't have support taht was constantly online and we found a few that even though they claimed they were 24x7, their live chat logos were always missing when offline or just set to not available

I can't vouch for the Windows offerings but AllReseller.com is now offering Windows reselling. It might be in your interest to check with them. You can tell 'em KGIII sent you (it doesn't make me any money) if you'd like but, well, you probably shouldn't. I already sent 'em my long pile of insane questions for the month. ;)

This is only standard with hosts that offer 24x7 technical support.

24 hour support and 24 hour live chat are not the same thing. We are actually phasing out live chat support altogether, as we do not believe it is as effective a channel to support clients from a "big picture" perspective.

Sure live chat gives users instant responses, however, it also can cause confusion if followup is needed, etc - as a formal ticket is not logged and there is a much higher propensity for communication issues.

I do not believe live chat as a support channel is a viable one - and the bigger the company, the more accurate this statement becomes.

Eitherway, its up to each company to decide how to handle this, but, I dont think we need to normalize 24x7 live chat support as a requirement for a hosting company.

AllReseller.com is who I have currently. They have been decent, though I hardly do much with what I have. But I can't say anything has been bad. Okay pricing on their offerings.

Skilledhost.com is worth satying away from. They will only contact you when you are signing up. After they have your money, they won't even acknowledge your contact. They have a "quick contact" they ignore. They have live help that is never there. They give you the impression they are such a great company, but they are a rip-off.

Hi Cartika

I wasn't saying that this should be the norm only that if a company claims they have 24x7 Live Chat and support (wasn't clear in my other post), then that is what they should deliver.

I've seen too many hosts that claim they offer both services 24x7 only to find that they do not do this and haven't updated their site to reflect the fact that it's only 24x7 support not live chat.

I also disagree with you regarding Live Chat not being an effective communication method.

Any chat that we receive is manually logged into the system by our Tech and CS guys so that we have an accurate record of who has contacted us, when and what the issue was. Maybe this comes from me being in the CS and Support field myself for many years!

fair enough and thanks for clarifying.

Interesting mechanism of handling this. Certainly more manual an approach then we would like, but definately effective if its working for you. Thanks for sharing...

Hi Cartika,

I agree with indigo, this is a great way to monitor your helpdesk, if you ever one day offer 24x7 support you could monitor your staffs chat logs and deliver training where its needed.

Hello Chris,

See, this is exactly where my comments originated from. We DO offer 24x7 support, however we do not, and will not, offer 24 hour live chat support.

Seems that the 2 often get confused on this forum... Just because a company does not offer live chat support, does not mean they do not offer 24 hour support.

I am going to have to agree with Andrew that Live Chat is hardly the most efficient way to communicate with clients. However, it is possible to maintain client history with a good package.

We've been doing LiveChat support for over a year and we've had to commit quite a bit of resources to LiveChat. A majority of our tech support team's time now goes into LiveChat and infact we are answering more Chat sessions than tickets! (2000+ chat sessions per month)

What we see is that most clients prefer use Live Chat to get instant solutions to issues or questions. Prolonged issues or questions that need to be tracked are submitted via ticket...

I've at times questioned whether LiveChat support is worth it. However, the reason we decided to keep providing it is because it does result in a very high customer satisfaction rate that not only reduces our churn rate but also brings in new clients. We've also have been forced to asses what LiveChat would cost us in the long run and whether we could maintain it in our growth scenario and business model

It's a good idea hosts look at LiveChat very carefully. It's not just putting the people in place to handle the chat sessions 24x7, its being able to do the same thing 2 years down the road with 10x more clients

agreed,

Our customers love live chat aswell, and its good for sales if a visitor wants to ask something they can click the icon anytime.

Suppose everyone has mixed thoughts. but its good to share right guys?

I'll ask the obvious, but what level of support do you offer? Also, do you have servers that are in the UK?
