Just a bit of general research really...
Obviously from a SEO point of view getting websites to link to your site is good for promotion of your site and goes a long way towards getting your site ranked higher in the search engines.
How oftern though do you submit to web directories and how many do you submit to? Do you try and submit to a load once a month, once a year, or do you submit your site whenever you come across a directory that will accept you? How much time do you spend submitting?

Long time no see. Last I had read your posts, nothing about your profile/signature indicated that you had any affiliation with FDC. The only thing that was a "clue" was how much you promoted it. :emlaugh:
Now, I see you've proverbially "come out of the closet." What is your capacity at FDC? Perhaps you own it?

I am referring to other businesses I am involved in, sorry for the confusion.

I've never seen music promote FDC via threads: Any specific ones you're referencing?
As for how much time I spend submitting links to other sites: Zero.
I have no interest in building other peoples link directories: Word of mouth for the win (slowly but surely building on top of quality rather than advertising).

Between the traffic I get from google, and everywhere else, google is my top location with links from other sites only tipping the scales at 0.3% of overall referers. After seeing this several years ago, I gave up on trying to submit to directories and all that crap.
The only places you'll see links to my site are very specific websites and thats all. However, I still get a ton of traffic from applications I've coded for PHPNuke since they have my link on the pages. :)

I would say I spend about 0 minutes a day give or take about 5-10% of that number.
Directories are not very efficient at building traffic.
