Hi,

I am with authorize.net and am trying to set up automated recurring billing. Authorize.net said I would have to set up each customer's automated recurring billing manually which seems ludicrous to me as that completely negates the "automated" part.

When I asked if we could set up a batch upload for the information the representative said yes but he didn't know how and couldn't provide any information on this. From the looks of their create a subscription section it looks like you have to store the cc numbers so you will have them to put in the recurring subscription you create - either via batch upload or manually. This seems really bizarre to me and completely counter-intuitive.

Does anyone use Authorize.net for recurring billing and have the process automated? If so, can you please let me know how you do it? Any and all help is really appreciated. I basically want to set it up so the whole process is as automated as possible.

Thanks,
Red

Well i used it with integration of Modernbill, modernbill would submit the payment each time it was due, so it was automated that way.

It seems that Modern Bill has automated the routine. If they can do it I'm assuming that we can do it too. The only question is how.

Just to follow up - I spoke with Authorize.net again and they basically said it couldn't be done. If a batch upload is processed it requires storing the credit card numbers on the server for a brief time as well as requiring you to manually login to your authorize.net account to start the upload.

The automated recurring billing won't work because you have to manually login to the system to enter the information and must have the users credit card number to set it up.

The whole process seems to be very inefficient and not automated at all.

You can store the encrypted credit card on your server in MB, just make sure you're following the PCI requirements. Then, you can use MB to process the payments automatically... works with most of the gateways, including authorize.net.
