What is the rule of thumb regarding mb space and web pages?

I see some hosts state than 50 mb = 100 web pages.

I understand that images take up more space. What is a conservative comparison?

Thanks in Advance!

I believe, that if their plan is 50Mb disk space, you give them 50mb of diskpace for whatever they want, as long as its legal. They're paying for the services, right?

divinetruth I dont belive he is asking that he is asking what is the average space that www pages can take up! It is hard to say, it will ALWAYS vary, how long is a piece of string ;)

If you can get the information on how much characters/pages are found in the Encyclopediae Universalis, or the Bible, you can then use this. People will like it.

And a related question...

How many hits = approx. how many MB of transfer?

I was trying to find a comparison for those looking to upgrade from 50 mb space to 100 mb space.

Often times people like to have an idea approximately the potential page count for a package.

Nothing concrete, just an estimate.

I read that 80% of the worlds sites are less than 10 Mb

I have one site with 10 pages downloadable books, space is 200Mb

Most of my sites with 12 pages and pics are about 4 to 5 Mb

I would say that any html page of more than 50-75 kb, including images, will be very slow, so 50 MB space gives for a lot in most cases.

On the other hand, a site having 10 to 12.000 sessions a month 25 to 30000 page views a month will be using close to a GB bandwith, in my experience. This is not using any media or downloads, just traffic.
