robert/starhost. i was just wondering if there have been any new updates involving starhost and the future of starhost.hm?
last i read there were new investors, which seemed like a good sign.
will you be having any new specials coming up soon? if so, can we get an idea of what they might be?

... to answer your question shortly: YES! We are back already. Let me explain...
We bought ourselves into Denver a while ago and our longterm plan was to move everything away from NewYork and NAC because the DC and the provider are too expensive and very unflexible. We last saw that when they shut us down although we were 101% agreed to pay by end of the month and they shut us down 2 weeks before that WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. Anyway...
Now, we upped some servers in Denver already (thanks to all folks there that helped at such short notice) and will be able to provide for our clients that have nowhere to go now. Also they will be compensated with a full month of free service (the LEAST we can do) and will be rewarded with a much better service and multihomed bandwith (Yipes, Aleron and Cogent for our 10mbit clients).
We got 2 big investors on board, one is a collegue of mine from Germany and close friend for many years and the other one a client of my greek company here. From them we will get 20.000$US in June and another 15.000$US in July. Also I have succesfully applied for credit lines with banks which are slow here in Greece unfortunately BUT they are willing to fund us with another 8-10.000$US.
For short: We will have over 100 servers after that :D
ATM we have a 45Mbit Yipes, 15Mbit Aleron and 100Mbit Cogent Pipe and also the colo is an office owned by us so there is no Provider DC to worry about. We will sell all this connectivity to a BGP route so we are able to offer true multihomed bandwith.
We will mainly use Aleron in the future and already applied for a full 100Mbit Pipe with them which we will get as soon as the second funding arrives in July.
Bottom line: Bare with us. We will give all of you good business and inexpensive dedicated solutions from Duron up to P4 with our already known flexibility. We will also provide top notch colocation deals and also managed solutions by end of the summer as soon as we hired more qualified technical staff in Denver.
We are not "just back"... we are BACK FOR GOOD and back to STAY!
Thank you!

Just one question from reading your posts
you bought all this pipe, 45 mbit from yipes, and 15 mbit from alteron and 100 megs from cogent, and you only have like less then 50 clients ?..
Aren't you overpurchasing a bit and the reason why your company went out of money?
I'm telling you you can run all your business on that 15 mbit pipe or less.
and that'll only cost you maybe $3k a month
instead of
$15k from yipes, $3k from alteron, $3k from cogent
$19k in expenses a month for 50 clients?
just thought I point this out..
at least put good use to the money you got from your investors :)

No, those pipes are already there, we don't bought the place completely. We will do that by end of summer. We bought a part for now.

Yep, that is exactly what goes ;)
