View Full Version : I hate to bash a fellow host but come on...
Rochen 05-20-2002, 01:05 PM I hate to bash a fellow host like this but it is the 3rd time this company has sent me their spam. It isn't even to my business email address, it is to my personal address.

Has anyone else been spammed by this company?
viGeek 05-20-2002, 01:22 PM I have
DIE SPAM
SoftWareRevue 05-20-2002, 01:27 PM :D I don't even let mail with "To: Undisclosed Recipients" get to my email client.
Spam is evil. But, we have to deal with it every day.
You can't expect a spammer to know you're a host. :D
9onlinehost 05-20-2002, 02:34 PM I am so sick of the direct mail spaming for domain names it is really pathetic.
atomoverride 05-20-2002, 03:27 PM I always try to block every @whatever.com from my email and as I go on I get more and more names. Plus as a bonus I manage over 100 domains so I just add the same block list to my other domains so that my customers dont get bombarded with the same spam that pisses me off.
I also block 2mhost.com as they are starting a spamming mission because I have been spreading the truth about them and they are afraid they will lose their business in the US.
Maybe as fellow people we can share spammers @domain.com addresses and together we can block the violaters.

do you do all this manually one by one for each @whatever.com? or is there an easier alternative in achieving this?

sure makes a lot of sense!

'block' as in setting up a filter in your SPAM TOOLS section of your control panel with the keyword 2mhost.com, right?

another great idea... but what will it take to get this done? would it be practical / feasible / legal?
"spambuster" works quite nicely and is a great program to eliminate spam sitting on mail server. Check it out
ADEhost 05-20-2002, 09:05 PM Funny I thought I was the only person that got that simular spam last week. I thought it was very funny.

acidHL 05-21-2002, 05:41 AM I keep getting a load of spam in what appears to be Korean trying to sell my anything from toasters to cars!
MCHost-Marc 05-21-2002, 05:44 AM Pretty girl they have on their website ...(kidding; if you check, you know what i mean).
GordonH 05-21-2002, 06:03 AM Hello
I have found that the nest way to block spam is to filter it by words.
I have 2 sets of message rules, one for titles and one for body of e-mails.
It includes words like "mortgage" "18+" etc and it seems to block most spam without affecting too much real mail.

Me too!
I'm getting like 20 a day to my main email address... it's so annoying.
coight 05-21-2002, 09:44 AM If you get spammed:
1) Spam them back. Address it to sales, support etc whatever they list on their site.
2) goto http://www.thefreesite.com and sign them up to some "free" offers.
Should keep them from doing it again.
CmputerWiz 05-21-2002, 01:21 PM I don't know if anyone has checked out that "4hourhosting.com" site recently....but it seems 4hrs is all they were able to stay up. LOL
Here's the page that displays:
" WE HAVE REMOVED THIS DOMAIN DUE TO SPAMMING. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED YOU.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR $3.00/MONTHLY HOSTING PLEASE GO TO
