Hii,
lets say, i have a domain asdf.com.
I want name servers ns1.asdf.com and ns2.asdf.com.
Okay, now my host has done it and he has asked me to create nameservers by logging into my Domain registrar contrl panel for my domain. Does all registrars allow this to be done.
My domain is registered with dotregistrar.
Thanks for any help.
:)

Your host will have provided you with 2 IP addresses. One for the NS1 name server and another for the NS2 name server. If you go along to your domain registrar and login to their control panel you will see an option like "Add Name Server" or "Add Host Record" or something along those lines. It will then ask you what the name server is, which in your case is ns1.asdf.com. You will then need to enter the IP address corresponding with the NS1 name server. Simply repeat this process for the NS2 name server. In the unlikely event your domain registrar doesn't have a control panel or have the option to add a name server via the control panel email them and ask how you can do it.
Hope this can help :)

Hii rochen,
Thanks for the reply.
My host has created the name servers and given me the Ips.
He has asked me to login to my Registrar control panel ( for my domain )...Once there...
1. Create name servers and add the IPs
2. Then point the domain to those name servers.
When i asked my local reseller here to do the same for me, he says...one Ip is not taken/accepted. But the Ip is correct.
Is it that the name servers ( ns1.asdf.com and ns2.asdf.com ) are created both at the host level and domain registrar level or only at one place.
thanks again.
