Hello, I don't know if this is the right category to be placing this topic, but since this forum is about vps I'm posting.
I need to hire someone right away. I have a vps at myriad and I don't know ANYTHING about handling it, so, usually they give me lots of trouble when anything minimal goes wrong and I ask for their help.
However, right now, the problem is that the server load my account is consuming is a LOT and it has something to do with error logs. Here is a response I got from them:Hi,

A few minutes ago, I noticed the load average on the VPS server hosting
server.bollyfm.net was higher than usual. I logged into your VDS and saw the
load average for your VDS was extremely high:

bash-2.05b# w
10:58:42 up 171 days, 1:21, 0 users, load average: 74.55, 86.46, 54.22

All but one of the other VDS servers on the server itself had a very low load
average (most were at 2 or lower).

Referring back to a previous ticket you opened regarding a resource issue with
your VDS, I believe I found the same exact cause again. From
/usr/local/apache/logs/error_log:

bash-2.05b# tail -1000 error_log|more

etc etc. It goes on and on. You need to log into your VDS and resolve this issue
as soon as possible, as we cannot allow 1 VDS user to monopolize the I/O
resources, which is exactly what is taking place here.

Last time it was an issue with the error log file exceeding it's size limit and that was stopping the server from functioning. I'm looking to hire someone to get into the vps and find out what the problem is (if it's not clear from this response) and fix it. Morever, if there are any other idle activities that are consuming load for free, that you could help the account get rid of these activities!

I can pay max 30 bucks through paypal. Please be genuine, I'm not looking for trouble. Quick help would be very kind.

My guess is that your access_log under /usr/local/apache is over 2Gb. The best bet would be to stop Apache (assuming you have SSH access - service httpd stop) and then look in /usr/local/apache/logs and then check the file sizes of both access_log and error_log. If error_log is very big, do a 'tail error_log' to see why it's generating such a huge error log file. If the access_log file is huge then something must be hitting your default host.

That should be a start, anyway..

The point is i'm not familiar with how to go about doing those tasks and that is why I really need to find someone who can do it for me before they get frustrated and take an action.

Hi,

I see from the ticket we offered you assistance on several occasions but never received a response back. As this is an unmanaged service you are responsible for supporting your server. We also offer per incident support which includes 30 minutes of level 3 support for a mere $15.00.

If you aren't into running your own linux server, we also offer standard web hosting and reseller services which are fully managed by us (the server, the OS, updates, errors, issues etc).

and from the PreSales VDS FAQ posted in our publicly viewable customer forums:

Q. Is the VDS a managed service?

A. As you retain full root access to your VDS you also accept responsibilities for the day to day operations.

I would be interested in knowing what "trouble" anyone at Myriad Network has given you regarding support for your VDS. I have just reviewed your ticket history, and find nothing more than extremely fast response times consisting of answers to your questions and providing professional, outstanding support for your unmanaged service. Many of your tickets have consisted of you asking us questions, to which we reply, in some cases several times, and never hear back from you. I honestly fail to see where anyone from our side of the house has given you trouble. I will be more than happy to address any concerns you may have offline, or right here on WHT.
