I don't know if anyone else is finding this, but I know of at least three people myself:

.uk domains registered at ukreg.com are being billed and invoice provided.

Domains show as available for administration from within the control panel.

HOWEVER, ukreg.com don't appear to be registering the domains with TUCOWS.

I tried registering a co.uk five days ago, and although it's been billed, it still hasn't be registered at tucows.

A colleague registered a ltd.uk two days ago, same thing.

Sent an email to support@ukreg.com, but an auto-ack from response@ukreg.com, then the original message I send returned with a DSN (delivery status notification) advising that 'too many loops'.

Rang Fasthosts helpdesk and they say they don't offer telephone support for ukreg.com problems.

Postmaster is a non-exsistant user, as well.

Anybody?

Regards

We have had many problems with customers domains registered with UKreg. Thier support is non existent.

I am trying to change the TAG on a uk domain at the moment, however they say they did not register the domain, which they did. They say I have to FAX confirmation so they can change the TAG. Fair enough.... .....three faxes later and still not done. No reply from any email.

Ukreg do not register uk domains through Tucows, they have there own TAG with nominet. You could try contacting nominet and making a complaint.

Also I have not done this but call fasthosts and say they should support you because there domain TAG is FASTHOSTS and not UKREG. They say they have nothing to do with the domain side of things but they still use the TAG FASTHOSTS?????

We have also had problems with them... they bill and the domains are frequently not registered.. Try getting a refund? Try contacting support? Might as well not bother as they aren't interested in helping you.

But... at the price they charge for .co.uk's and the admin facilities they provide... I find it's hardly worth complaining and just register it again.

You can go to Nominet though -- they offer phone help and they will make sure you are sorted. May give UKReg a bit of a "telling off" too as I suspect there will have been similar complaints too..

I have found a truly excellent registrar that is 123-reg.co.uk

I have about 10 domains with them and they are promptly registered. I also find the support is really good too.

This may seem like a plug since I am an affiliate but I can honestly hand-on-heart say that they are very good. The CP has a lot of features and they dont charge for anything extra.

I am not sure if this is allowed but my affiliate URL is http://www.123-reg.co.uk/affiliate.cgi?id=AF26932 and any click throughs would be apreciated.

If this against the rules I apologise...

Otherwise the URL for the website is http://123-reg.co.uk

They are part of the hosteurope group. They also seem to have some nice priced dedicated servers (for the UK at least) over at Telehouse I think.

They only do .ltd.uk's through webfusion.co.uk, only with new hosting accounts.

We have a few domains registered through UKReg and one .biz. They claim the .biz is still in the registration process. Well it has been for the last 7 months and now someone else supposedly owns the name when doing a WHOIS lookup.

If you want to get telephone support and get a problem fixed signup for Fasthosts cheapest account, call their technical support and say you have a problem with the hosting account. After they have finished discussing the hosting problem with you they will then ask if you have any further problems. Simply tell them about the UKReg problem and they will help you. This may not be the cheapest way at £8.99 for an account but it seems to be the only way to get things done with this company.

I am going to be moving all our domains away from UKReg soon but first I have to get the TAGs for our UK domains changed

Anyone used 123Reg?

Hi,

We have had very similar problems in the past with UKREG. They need to be chased, chased and chased again before they do ANYTHING!

We once had a week or two with particular problems and around 15-20 domains were paid for but not registered, in the end we registered them elsewhere and got our bank involved to get the refund.

This was all some months ago and we have recently joined Nominet and have our own tag. If you can afford the initial investment this is well worth it.

They are part of fasthosts. What can we expect really? Though I always heard good about them.

I always use 123-reg.co.uk for regestering .co.uk's and just started using ukreg.com for regestering .com's

Both been fine for me, couldn't put one above the other, both low prices, good admin and so on......

Never tried the support with ukreg, but 123-reg took a couple of days to reply to a simple e-mail and didn't even answer the question I asked.

Other then that though, both seem fine to me.

HOW ANNOYED AM I!!

UK Reg continue to bill and not register. They do not answer their support requests - we have had one open for weeks now.

They do not provide phone support. We telephone, get told that it is a ukreg problem not a fast hosts one, we try a different number get some LIMITED help. But still no response the following day.

Called again today to see what was going on and I was dealt with extremely rudely and then they just hung up on me.

So I call nominet (uk registrar) and they politely inform me that it is because the postcode submitted was invalid and that they should have informed me of this.... yeah right.

UK REG is a scam.

I have quite a few domains registered at UK Reg, but I also have noticed recently that there service/ support is awfull. We do also use 123 Reg and most of the domains I register for myself and on behalf of clients will be with 123 Reg now.

What do you expect from Fasthosts?

Fasthosts make me sick. I have NEVER been so rudely dealt with in all my life, I simply can't believe it.

I have around 6 domains at UKReg, the 4 of them that I wish to keep are being transferred to 123-reg as soon as I get time. I sent a question into UKReg support (answer was definitely not on their site!) and they still haven't replied - two weeks later. I too tried phoning the number on the invoice, only to be told that it was Fasthosts-only support.

My recommendation would be to go with 123-reg - their pricing is the same, if not less and they offer much better service :)

Yeah I think that is very good advice. I just registered 2 domains with 123 and I think I may stay there. Anythings got to be better than the complete lack of support from UKREG.

Cheers
