BETIServices 04-22-2006, 11:49 PM I had Modernbill since 1.0 started and since them thay are much on a better path with V5 coming around the corner. Ver. 4.4 is very stable and recomended to anyone, I will said start with 4.4 since you could always upgrade for free until V5 is out. As I know MB, it will be many bugs and problem after V5 is out and be declare stable. I'm forum member 29 and there is currently 5,157 registered users :) vpsfusion 04-24-2006, 11:00 PM Modernbill is a great software. Iv been using it for 2 years and basically it takes care of everything that I need for! It has tons of modules implement in it. I would highly recommend this to you if you are planning to use it for web hosting. As for recurring billing, it is great. It keeps track of your billing periods and bills customers accordingly. And when you have invoices created, you can just run a Batch if you have a real time gateway. AvailNetworks 04-25-2006, 03:20 AM modernbill is a very nice program and quite powerful. I do think the startup learning curve can be a bit high and there is just so much to customize that getting it setup right away is basically a no go. It takes a good few days to tweak and get everything setup right RackPoint-Andrew 04-25-2006, 12:10 PM Definitely a thumbs up here, I've used MB for a few years now and from what I see it's doing a good job leading the pack. I've seen a few quirks with PayPal subscriptions but all in all it works smoothly and integrates very well. It can be very daunting setting up for the first, or even fifth time (as I'm sure some know all too well), there are plenty of options to go through. Feel free to hit me up if you have some questions or need help figuring something out :) ldshoster 04-25-2006, 04:08 PM I would say, ModernBill is the best billing solution around. It is easy to customize and logical when you use it. It's unlike others logical thinking in the day to day running. I use it on several websites and am very pleased with it. Also when it comes to support, the people at ModernBill are very helpful and resolve problems really fast. I would give it a A++ drewnick 04-25-2006, 04:12 PM I am in the process of migrating from QuickBooks Pro 2005 over, and it has its pluses and minuses. Mainly, I don't like it's reporting and the fact that it doesn't use a double journal accounting standard. For generating the bucks, it works, but it is somewhat shallow in those areas. XeHSean 04-25-2006, 04:17 PM I've used modernbill since I began in the hosting industry and I still love it! You can set it up to integrate with other top software such as idevaffiliate, kayako esupport, fraudcall, etc. and get it to run completely automatically! I would highly recommend it to anyone! insiderhosting 04-25-2006, 09:27 PM Modernbill is the best solution I think in terms of a billing system. It has essentially everything you need to run the billing side of a company. The setup is daunting at first, but it's good to get acclaimated with it, because it integrates with many payment gateways as well as server control panels. This allows you to setup accounts from within the system, suspend non payers, etc.. -Steven WO-Jacob 04-26-2006, 12:16 PM Well, looks like I'll be the first to call a pig, a pig. The good news, MB is the best out there. The bad news, it's still largely crap. Sorry guys. :) And it's not so much the software, but it has plenty of issues, a lot of it is the people behind it... or... maybe 'behind it' isn't the best description of where they are. I've been doing a LOT of work on ModernBill lately (uh, i can't link you here, rules and all, but if you ask, I will show) and ... out of probably 5 questions i've asked them (very specific, generally) I have gotten a total of one answer which has ACTUALLY helped, and even that was to a thread which had rather bald lies about the design of the software in it. We're making things integrated on our new site... and what it came down to, is everything will be perfect, except modernbill. It won't look 'just right', it won't validate, and it sure as heck won't be semantically correct. It's rather disapointing. Though, the alternative is, I spend months coding up a replacement, which isn't cool either. I've been pretty disapointed overall in my experiences with interacting with the ModernBill team. The software itself usually does what it's supposed to, but then sometimes not as well, which is how ModernBill earned the label I give it, Creme de la Crap. Best of the worst... :D Granted, would I use anything else? No. But do I wish things were different? Sure do! The other pet peve, is any time you have a problem or question, they want to log into your billing system. Uhm... I have privacy policies and clients to protect. It's really just a touchy subject with me. Oh, I should also mention, I had their support manager say on request specific files could be given in unencoded format. And... for the record, every single file I've requested has been declined. Frustrating. :) Kiamori 04-28-2006, 04:37 PM Tried MB and it was very lacking in ease of use for the admins and clients. We found it buggy and missing features. For example, a simple paper billing option for local clients. It had duplicated bills, missed billing other people and a bunch of other strange stuff, ended up just selling it to someone who wanted it. I should have known it wasn't what I was looking for from the price, it just had so many good reviews. It cost me more money in time then I paid for it. The people at MB were eager to help but did not have the right answers. Sorry, I give MB a thumbs down. drewnick 04-28-2006, 04:40 PM Kiamori, when was that? Just wondering in case they've improved it since then. Kiamori 04-28-2006, 05:01 PM Kiamori, when was that? Just wondering in case they've improved it since then. Regardless if they have improved it since then or not a professional product that affects another business should not be released with bugs like I encountered using it. It’s suppose to be a professional billing system and it did not perform like one. I purchased it in Q1 2005 if I recall correctly. |
