Hello,

I'm trying to transfer my domain away from Registerfly. I removed the Whois privacy so that my contact details would be used by the registrar I'm moving to. I applied for the transfer and the registrar I'm moving to emailed not MY contact details on the whois records, but to: support@registerfly.com

Now I'm worried, as someone at Registerfly will receive a transfer request for MY domain, when the request should have gone to me at my email address!

I've checked Whois to make sure it's my details that show, rather than the Protectfly stuff which I disabled, and so why did my application for transfer go to support@registerfly.com?

Now I'm worried that someone else can do as they please with regards to the other registrars transfer request.

Please help. If Regfly reads this, Paul, please help!

The same thing happened to me when trying to transfer from RegFly to Moniker. I didn't actually care that transfer request was sent to support@registerfly.com (it looks like they aren't checking this account anyway), but that it wasn't sent to admin contact. Fortunately enough, Moniker support has dealt with this within half an hour.

So, the best way for you is to contact gaining registrar's support team.

Good luck!

P.S. I must make my point clear - this isn't RegisterFly's fault. And Paul wouldn't be able to help you.

Hi Stan Marsh, thanks for sharing that, it makes me feel a little better. I have contacted the gaining registrar and explained, I'm still waiting for a reply, hopefully one will come soon.

If you removed the WHOIS privacy only just a few hours ago, it may take up to 24
hours for the WHOIS details to display the actual info. Unlike DNS changes, it isn't
necessarily "instant".

I'd say wait a little bit longer, then check the WHOIS details again. Once it shows
your actual info, ask the gaining registrar if they'll be able to send it to the one
then showing.

Dave, this gaining registrar's system glitch has nothing to do with whois privacy. It just happens with some registrars and some whois formats used.

Davezan I did check that the privacy was off on a couple of different whois searches before I applied for the transfer, and on both searches it was my details showing on those searches, prior to transferring.

Stan Marsh, I did get it sorted with the gaining registrar a few hours later and the transfer is now pending, so it should go ok now.

The last transfer I did went along fine, hopefully this will go smoothly too.

Good Luck. Registerfly is having SERIOUS problems. They can't accept payments for renewals, but they CAN still redirect domains that expire because you can't make a payment. If you can get away from them, it's probably a good thing. I know I'm taking all mine back to where they came...

Your domain is still with Enom unless it's gone past redemtion period. They can help.

I've seen some people around here defend Registerfly's actions in public. I've also now, today, experienced Registerfly's dishonesty and incompetence first hand.

I've noticed that many who come here to complain about Registerfly are shooed off by other domain companies that frequent these forums. I'm not a newbie and I have no other axe to grind. As soon as my domains are safe from these guys, I fully intend to post my sordid story here on WHT, so everyone can be aware of what is going on at Registerfly.
