This is not something I want to do, but I was just wondering:

I see these 20+GB/transfer accounts all over the place with very low prices, at least if you compare to reseller accounts. And quite a few of them comes with subdomains.

What's stopping someone from signing up and passing web hosting on to others. Is this something that usually is prohibited in the TOS?

The reason I ask is that from time to time I see people at FreeWebSpace.net offering others free hosting on their shared hosting account. And I can't really understand that this is something a host would allow (at least not on a large scale)

Any thoughts?

thanks,

Well ,yes. There are tons of very good deals, but most of them are made under asumption that you want use more than 10-20% of your bandwidht, and reseller accounts are more likely to use 60-70%, so all host's playing bandwidht game want let you do that ( 20 gb , 300 mb space..etc plans for 5-10$).

Yes, I agree with you. Like I said, this is not something I'm gonna try out, I feel reseller accounts are better/safer deals, even if you have to pay those extra $.

I just get this feeling sometimes that you have these 10 year olds offering free hosting to everybody on their "unlimited" accounts", and I can't see any host willing to accept that.
