Does anyone here have webreseller.net's dedicated servers?
I want to contact them but they have no email address posted on their site. I will actually have to call them.

I am not totally sure what to ask them. I want the 450 gig of transfer, I want to be sure they are running linux, I am not sure if I need PLESK or not, though one package says they have it. I wonder most about whether they help a newbie set things up and get going.
Anyone know about all this?
Bradley

you're probably better off going for a managed server. you won't get near as much bandwidth, and you'll pay more, but, there's only so much webreseller can offer you. they do offer a semi-managed solution, however, they cannot completely manage the server for you.

are you absolutely sure you need to go with a dedicated server?

but anyhow, you can find any post that webreseller has replied to and click the email button underneath their name. they're usually fairly spiffy with emails.

Bradley, if you're willing to spend some time to learn quickly, getting a server with Webreseller is good choice. However as skylab mentioned, they offer semi-managed server, so their support may be limited. Plesk is a good control panel for newbies as it's very easy and simple to use. But still you need to learn a bit about DNS and server management.

...what SkyLab says is correct about managed/unmanaged. But if you DO decide to get a unmanaged/semi-managed server then webreseller is a top choice!

Getting a managed server is a good way to go for a smaller host or one starting out, as it allows you to outsource the long hours of monitoring that need to / should be done to people who are there and have to do it anyways. We provide this service for several clients and it gives them a little bit of their life back because they don't have to worry about a server having apache go down at 3am and not knowing about it for hours, or even having to worry about fixing it themselves for that matter. It's all about finding a place that will provide the level of service that you are comfortable with at a price you want.

I always suggest you outsource a server administrator to hold your hand when starting out.

Works out cheaper in the long run - and there is a better opportunity for you to learn from them.

Depending on what you are using your server for, it may keep customers happy when there is someone who knows what they are talking about offering them support.

What is the main requirement or use for your server?

so now, i do believe webreseller.net would be a fairly good choice for a dedicated server for you. their semi-managed support seemingly does go above and beyong the call of duty and if you are interested in the hands-on approach, i do believe webreseller would be good for you. SUPPORT (ie, they cannot do everything for you) with most of the difficult aspects of server management will be provided.

also, WHT is a great forum for finding more information and help when you need it.

I don't agree at what you said that Webreseller would go beyond the call of duty. I required them to upgrade my Linux kernel and OpenSSH in my initial setup specifications, but until now they still haven't upgraded them yet (the trouble tickets have been closed out with no obvious solution). They even asked me to pay for the kernel upgrade. Aside from this issue, I'm very happy with the server performance and uptime.

When I got a server from DV2/Tranxactglobal and mentioned about the kernel upgrade in the server specs, their tech support did the upgrade in less than an hour. Now, that's what I called "going beyond the call of duty" :)

No, I'm running Plesk on the server so I know that kernel upgrade should not be an issue.
