Hi,

I'm looking for a PHP forum script (free of course :)) that allows the setting up of special forums that can only be viewed by login or by user group/permissions. Is there such an animal?

Yes, you're right - I could take a look at the docs of all the forums. However this would take me a month to go through 'em all. Hopefully someone out there has experience with this and I can get an instant answer. This way I don't have to set down my Guinness. :)

This feature is present in Burning Board (wbb). You can allow access to different forums by setting up different access rules.

Download from here -> http://woltlab.de/dl/wbb1.1.1e.zip

phpBB does that. You can set a category to be invisible unless a user or group has permission to see it and post there. Works nice.

The newest and latest board; InvisionBoard.com (http://invisionboard.com/)
It's from the creator's of IkonBoard. And is pretty much an Ikon board, except runs on PHP.

Because it's actually quite a decent piece of software, it's akin to recommending one well known piece of software that we know has plenty of bugs but isn't Beta.
