I also believe PerlDesk is quite popular, however, I personally have never used it. nmihosting 05-19-2002, 04:28 AM Hi splashscreen, We just set-up Perl Desk the other day and are about to start using it. I have to say it was a very easy set-up and customizing it was a breeze. I would definatley recommend it. We tested ticketsmith too, but Perl Desk is a better product (IMO). Also Ticketsmith has not received any development since November last year and didn't have the online support forums that Perl Desk does. Hope this is helpful. :) okihost 05-19-2002, 09:46 AM We are using Perldesk and found it do be very stable and user freindly, Also as said before there are very helpful forums and there is also support available from the PerlDesk author for a very good price.. If I remember correctly it's about 30.00 per 3 months something that might be good to have while setting up and learning the new system.. netsolutions 05-19-2002, 10:42 AM We are using PerlBill which is a modified version of PerlDesk and we find it very stable, secure and the support has been A ++++ HostInspect 05-19-2002, 11:08 AM :agree: PerlDesk :agree: Especially that e-mail piping, we just love that feature :) sammasati 05-19-2002, 03:11 PM Currently using ticketsmith, but I love all the features of PerlDesk, and PerlBill. I just can't ever get the installation to work properly. I have posted to the forums and never got the help that I need to get everything set up. John with perl desk is very responsive on sales type issues, so I imagine he is also responsive on support, but I haven't been willing to pay for support when I can't even get a working install by following the instructions. If you can get PD working on your system it seems like a great tool from the demo, it is just getting past the installation that has given me problems. Ryan splashscreen 05-19-2002, 03:34 PM thanks to everyone who answered :stickout I've just installed Perldesk...so far so good! vibehosts 05-19-2002, 03:50 PM You won't be unsatisfied we love perldesk and so do our clients! AH-Tina 05-19-2002, 04:12 PM PerlDesk...woot! :D Mxhub 05-23-2002, 06:41 AM Version 1.5 rock! Ability to search text now! ( old version search limit on subject or call ID which make the "search engine" look useless ) bobcares 05-24-2002, 10:32 AM Hi! Perldesk has many features... Which however, I feel are not necessary for a hosting company... One drawback... tickets get lost.. But Perldesk is very good and I would recommend it.. However, my personal choice is ticketsmith... not because perldesk is bad... Ticketsmith is good because it is the most simple and practical solution for a hosting company.. It is not a regular helpdesk software but really closest to what one can expect in perfection.. Only thing lacking is the search feature... Both are good and have their own set of pros and cons... Have a great day :) Regards Amar |
