Just started reselling and the company wants $150 for a SSL. We have script tied into our site that is on an SSL so the user keeps getting a warning box for the "secure and insecure" info being passed. Does anyone know a cheaper way to get a SSL or a way to stop the pop-up warning?

Well one idea would be to use your hosts shared certificate if they offer it to their clients, as this would alleviate the box that keeps on popping up, otherwise you can purchase your own cert but that costs more money.

You could also get one from GeoTrust.com (http://www.geotrust.com/), whi provide SSL certs at $119. Or you can wait for one at Rackshack.net (http://www.rackshack.net/) who sell the same certs at $49 (+ tax). They're having problems with their registration system at the moment so their not offering it yet.
But the only way to get rid of the security box is either to buy an SSL cert yourself or to use the shared SSL offered by your web host.

I see these companies offer SSL certificates from $49. Can I buy one of these $49 certificates and share it with all my users? Or do I need to buy an "enterprise" version to be able to share it?
thanks, Jeff :)

As long as you set it up so that the users use a sub-folder of the SSL cert's domain. For example, if you registered https://secure.domain.com/ as the domain of the SSL cert, then for your users, they'll have to use https://secure.domain.com/username/ to use the SSL cert.
If you want your users to have their own domain like https://secure.theirdomain.com/ then a different cert will be needed.

Does the company not offer you the chance to use their shared SSL space?

The hosting package I am looking at does not offer a shared SSL. So I want to evaluate the additional cost of purchasing one vs going with a reseller that has it included.
Another question is, are hosting customers "demanding" access to a shared SSL? I would think with all the publicity regarding security issues, this would be necessary for any Web Hosting company to supply.
Does anyone know of a "newbies guide to SSL and Shared SSL"?
thanks, Jeff :)
