Thought i would share my way of running a local affiliate scheme that has proved to be quite successful, Its extremely simple to run and goes like this.

First of you need to design a flyer for your business that goes something like 'special offer webhosting, enter code xxx-xxx-xx when ording and get a discount etc yadda yadda yadda' once you have deisgned your flyer add an extra field to your online order form so people can add a promotional code.

The next bit requires some legwork, you need to get out and sign up local stores to give out your flyers to there customer on the basis that each sign up you get they will get a set percentage of the sale (computer stores seem to be paticularly good places). Now the clever bit is that each store that signs up gets there own promotional code that you add to there set of flyers, this is how you track payments.

And thats basically it, pretty easy to setup and run along with being cheap, all you need is a cheap laser printer to run off your flyers and a simple spreadsheet to track sales.
