View Full Version : Moniker .NET Pricing
digitalxf 04-15-2006, 02:16 AM Hi all,
I m rather confused about Moniker's domains pricing.
1. (.net) domains are charged at $5.49/yr when added to cart
2. in their pricing page, they show (.net) as $18.99/yr
So how much will it cost to renew a (.net) in Moniker? $5.49/yr or $18.99/yr?
I m very confused and I hope someone can clarify this for me.
Thanks.
Stan Marsh 04-16-2006, 05:14 AM 1. This is because registry (Verisign) has a 'special' running at the moment.
2. I am not sure (you better ask Moniker), but I would think that IF you'll renew during the registry's special, you'll get 5.49 price.
digitalxf 04-16-2006, 07:27 AM Thanks Stan for the input. I guess I have to ask Moniker personally.
Thanks again.
.net renewal at Moniker.com is $18.99/yr.
GigabitONE 04-16-2006, 05:06 PM .net renewal at Moniker.com is $18.99/yr.
$18.99 renewal seem to be very expensive now aday for a domain
Dan L 04-16-2006, 06:18 PM Moniker has special pricing available upon request.
It's sort of like registering a domain directly with eNom vs. becoming a reseller.
Also, at Moniker, their pricing page shows the highest price. Your personal prices are only reflected when a domain is added to your cart.
Stan Marsh 04-17-2006, 02:26 AM Besides, Moniker is positioning themselves as the most secure and customer-oriented registrar. With very good reason...
Gerrit 04-20-2006, 09:22 AM But isn't it a bit subjective if the prices vary per customer? I mean, one can start nagging like "why do I have to pay more than the previous customer?". I don't say it's necessarily bad when prices are negotiatable, but it seems a bit weird though.

They are giving special pricing plans for members of one domaining forum AND for holders of big portfolios. Nagging w/o the reason never helped anyone to receive special treatment from Monte & Co.
wrecker 04-21-2006, 01:30 AM $5.49 for registration is quite cheap though, isn't it? I guess it would be worthwhile to register .net, and transfer it away when its time for renewal...
Do any other registrars do this? Charge a tiny amount for registration, and blow the top on renewals?

:gthumb: Sounds like a good idea

As I've mentioned above, this is because the registry (Verisign) has a 'special' running for the .net at the moment and Moniker (unlike most of other registrars out there) are passing savings on.

Yahell and iPower come to mind.

Can you share what "one domaining forum" gets the special pricing?

There are 2 really BIG domaining forums. So, members of one of them are getting that special pricing (USD6.95 for most gTLDs, to be exact). To narrow your search even more, Monte himself is a very active member there (under MonikerMan nick).
Good luck!

I was sure it will be! Glad to be of help.
SEOKing 04-21-2006, 08:50 PM When talking about Yahoo and iPower, there is no way you could regard the two as companies who "blow the top on renewals".
You could register names for under $3 with both companies and renewals are about $5 more. Many domain name companies charge 8 to 10 dollars to start per year.
The IPOWER and Yahoo deals are great. Personally I am fan of IPOWER and have not had any problems.
But Everyone has a right to their own opinions, the beauty of these forums.
