Some of you may be familar with Scriptlance, the freelancer site. It used to be such a good service where you could find a wealth of programmers who could get basically anything you needed done.

These days what you find there are :

[1] Blind bidding - people placing bids for low dollar amounts not even reading your project description .. then trying the old switch-a-roo mid way through when they realize they bid $50 for what should have been $150.

[2] Vanishing acts who waste your time

[3] People trying to sell you warez. Ask for a forum, someone will try to sell you a cracked copy of vbulletin pro for $20.

While you take a risk using any site of this nature, I suggest eliminating this risk specifically by not using scriptlance.com .. its a waste of time and money.

:bawling: Anyone having good experiences on other freelance sites? I have projects I'd like to get done. But I don't want to waste time on a site that has the exact same problems.

I don't care much for rent a coder.. anyone got any other recommendations?

Try RentACoder. I have been there since 3 years. Rules are strict, it's safe and I think the best one. Some say Elance but if you see RAC carefully, it just rocks! :D

I've had a similar experience with Scriptlance, tinkertim, although from the other angle. As a freelancer, most jobs I placed bids on weren't closed until weeks after the end of the bid period, if not longer. Not to mention that most of the programmers seem wildly underqualified for the types of jobs they bid on.

RAC gets my vote too. Try it, you wont be dissapointed, even if rates might be a little higher then on other freelance sites.

Yes and those rates are well justified for the service you get. The system is professional and fraud-free. I don't know how good Elance is, but RAC is my pick even if I want to buy work. :D
