Right now I have Att Cable, but that is an uneccesary expense for me with out allowing a domain name. Can DSL allow a domain name? I want to use Dreamweaver's Ultra Dev, I would like to get better at creating dynamic web page. But I am not sure what hosting service is right for me in this regard. In the tutorial book for Ultra Dev (Mac) it states that I am to use either a Unix server, Windows NT or a Windows 2000 server runing IIS. With that, when I define my site in Ultra Dev. I am to check either ASP, JSP or Cold Fusion. Is there a dial up and hosting plan out there that would be right for my situation. I am on a Mac.
I am a little lost on how ASP, JSP and Cold Fusion relates to Windows NT, Windows 200 & (IIS) or Unix server. This is important in my decision on what dialup and hosting plan I choose.
I want CGI, PHP as well.

Thanks for any help you can give!

not 100% sure what you are asking... but i gathered that you are just going to be using the server to learn on ... if this is correct.. just host it on your computer. If you have OS X, you already have apache installed and on a unix server.

You mentioned that I should use os x with apache.
All my apps are in classic mode, they are not compatable with OS X. But I guess it is possible.

thanks

i'm pretty sure if you have the server running in OS X, on unix, that it shouldn't matter that the application is running in classic.
