I am writing a research paper on webshosting. For this purpose I need to get hold of website load/hit statistics and logs. Does anyone know where I could find such information? Or, does anyone possibly have any such material composed from their webservers that I could use for my research?

For some web server statistics, especially the market share of different servers, statistical data is collected by Netcraft

Many data centers publish stats of their aggregated network traffic, here for example:

But I guess network traffic isn´t what you want... ;)

I think you´d need to be more specific as to what information you´re hoping to find in those statistics. Web server stats are quite often considerd confidential information, but I guess you´ll be able to get them from webmasters of some non-commercial sites, if you tell them what type of information you´re actually after...

What I am looking for is statistics that can either verify or refute my theory that each website has a weekly acccess pattern (the load for Modays are roughly the same, but Mondays and Saturdays are not necessarily the same).

That sounds like a reasonable "theory":

For business sites,
They get less traffic the weekend, obviously
But why would you expect differences monday through friday?
Ah, you don´t ...

For non-business sies,
I guess its the same
Cause people go drinking :beer: the weekend
While they surf the web throughout the week?
