I am lucky to not host with them. Due to their slow and incomplete response to my few queries, I left the idea of hosting with ipower.com. As far as domain registration is concerned, they are even worse. I don't recommend ipower.com to anyone.

Was this a review or you would like feedback? I did not understand

This was discussed too many times here. Basically, registrars who sell coms for less than 6.25 are doing this at a loss, with all consequences.

You get what you pay for.

I have bought domains from iPower and I seem to be able to change the DNS, through the TUCOWS reseller manager. They do say you get "absolute DNS control" and in my experience that is what I have received. Also the updates are fairy quick!

they sent you this link in your Account Setup email:

https://manage.opensrs.net/

yea my experience with Ipower is that they Double Billed my a$$ and get this 10-15 days to get my overcharge put back and thats after few days of not hearing from them.

Ipower is actually working out very nicely. their refund came in 4 business days. and they answered my email question about their billing cycles, just takes them a few days after their auto response.

How is the domain manager?

aka Wombat
04-18-2006, 03:18 PM
the domain manager is simple, in it you can toggle lock, edit/add nameservers, create/modify subusers, see all your billing info and enable/disable their WHOIS privacy - they give you a Contact Privacy cover for your domain for free but its not WHOIS Guard it shows up like this on WHOIS lookup:

Registrant:
Contactprivacy.com
96 Mowat Ave
Toronto, ON M6K 3M1
CA

Domain name: YOURDOMAIN.COM

Administrative Contact:
contactprivacy.com, yourdomain.com@contactprivacy.com
96 Mowat Ave
Toronto, ON M6K 3M1
CA
+1.4165385457

blablabla etc....

for those that say don't get ipower domains and that you cant change dns, umm wtf ? i can! and my domain is fine whats the reason not to get a domain from ipower? its just funny how there is no reason stated. from my research all domain services have slow response times on simple questions that is my only negative i can see. they are nice to me no attitude or anything their manager works fine.

In the past month or so, I have bought about a dozen domains. I have had no trouble with changing the DNS to my server. Which is on Rackspace, not ipower. So far, so good. I keep my fingers crossed, as $2.95 is awesome.

Omg I was going to buy domains at iPower!

...and then my mum said no because she knew there was a catch somewhere.
Thank god I listened to her :)

aka Wombat

so whats the catch here? :smash:
why doesnt someone tell me what the catch is and how its a scam?

you conspiracy theorist WannaBe's...

they tell you 2.95 for 1st year, 8.25 annual renewal after that 1st year. there is no catch to that.

ppl like being dumbasses, i guess...

You can't lock and unlock the domain name with them the last time I used them. I had to email them to get it done. I could change the DNS though.

It's the same for me. I have tried to register one domain with them and now i cannot administer it. 2.95$ spent very badly.

I've registered 9 domains with them, got tucows login details for all domains, logged through manage.opensrs.net and i've locked/unlocked them, edited whois contacts, and even move the domains to one of the profiles, so i have 1 login, instead of 9 login details

i have just registerded a domain with ipowerweb but for some reason i cant access the vdeck control panel via the host url :/

it might have something to do with my campus network (i live on campus) cause it seems to work fine for my friends etc off campus.

hopefully i will be able to access vdeck via my domain afteer it resolved to my account. by the way, anybody know is there anyway i can configure my browser/firewall etc to access it?

thanks :] x

I have a few domains with iPower, and they do let you have complete control over the domain. Its not as smooth and polished as registrars such as Namecheap, but it works fine and is very cheap.

Ipower is terrible!!!

they shut down my hosting account without notice, no response with my email, slow response on the line.

They charged me for I transfered a domain to them arround a month ago, but I still can't use it today.

I paid for bad experience with them!

leon999 ::

I transfered a domain to them

you are supposed to buy the domains from ipower then transfer out of them after 60 days to someone else like Dynadot. (http://dynadot.com)
