$350 is pretty cheap, is t1 enought for web app such as salesforce type of hosting application to start out with.

Don't forget the local loop cost, which Cogent says is "as low as $200/month". Your total cost is going to be $550+/month.
A better solution may be to use SDSL for your local connectivity, and then co-locate your server in a datacenter. If you do go the T1 route, it should most likely handle quite a bit of traffic for a sales application.

hey, a question for you since you only do backup and not hosting. would it be cheaper for you to use something like t1 hookup to your office then host your clients data with a t1 line since backup data are done probably once a week and it won't eat too much bandwidth. the reason that i ask is my employer use a t1 line to host couple of our customers servers. these are not webhosting, they are more niche market and bandwidth useage are low.

If all you're doing IS backup (i.e. the world is not over if the line goes down) and it's low traffic enough, you could get probably get away with a higher-bandwidth and cheaper SDSL line.

A T1 is more than sufficient for backing up a few servers. If you use Rsync, you'll be able to run the backup every night with minimal bandwidth usage. You can even have Rsync rate-limit the transfer.

On our backup services, we use a T1 and DACS to fract. the channels down a bit to minimize bandwidth usage. Cogent's price is good, but may get a better deal if you colo in a center they may already have equipment in.
