View Full Version : Control Panels
pgosling 04-10-2006, 01:21 AM I currently use HELM Control Panel for my customers.
What do you use?
What would you say is the best in terms of features and ease of use?
Comments, suggestions and reviews please?
FH-Donald 04-10-2006, 01:39 AM we use cPanel/WHM and would dare to say it is the best, which it has its downsides but in terms of customers it is the most popular. That makes it the best for us, customers feel comfortable using it
all of the contol panel options are probably just as good maybe some are better but what it boils down to is what the customer wants
hixin 04-10-2006, 02:06 AM direct admin not bad
usman11 04-10-2006, 02:12 AM We are using our own in-house builtin coPanel because of the reason that we have buit it from ground and is tailored to the services we provide.
jimSutton 04-10-2006, 08:55 AM Plesk is the most polished (has the nicest looking UI) control panel for sure ... but its probably the most expensive in terms of licensing.
CPanel has a lot of features / functionality but is still pretty rough around the edges.
Ensim is solid but hardly has any features ...
Ditto with Direct Admin.
HSphere is a nightmare ... especially the integrated billing component.
Never really used Helm
There's also the Opensource Webmin which I've never used ...
And many hosts develop their own control panels ...
Subfusion 04-11-2006, 06:51 AM Cpanel is a great control panel, if you improve on it's UI I'm sure your customers would like it.
david510 04-11-2006, 08:23 AM I have worked with Cpanel, Plesk, Ensim, and Webmin and I prefer Cpanel for it's ease of use.
ArtieFishill 04-11-2006, 10:57 AM I'm a diehard DirectAdmin advocate. Price vs ease of use vs ease of maintenance can't be beat.
cPanel is a nice control panel, but it tends to go overboard in some areas....sometimes it has TOO much funcitionality if you get my drift. Most clients simply need a way to:
- Create and manage email accounts and related functions (fowarders, etc)
- Create and manage domains
- Manage DNS
- Manage FTP users
- Use the filemanager
Other options are fluff IMHO and 90% of your users will never use the functionality.
maniakaz 04-11-2006, 11:00 AM Cpanel and think it's great
writespeak 04-11-2006, 11:02 AM Moved to Hosting Software and Control Panels.

kris1351 04-11-2006, 05:55 PM CPanel is slow and bloated compared to many other panels out there. It is also really expensive compared to others.
demowolf 04-18-2006, 11:55 AM I use CPanel myself, and have for years. No complaints whatsoever. I've recently tried and used Plesk and Direct Admin, both of which have nice looking user interfaces.... but since I'm "used" to CPanel, that's what I stick with.

Saksher 04-18-2006, 01:28 PM I am offering Hosting Controller and Helm to my customers. I have start using Hosting Controller last year after having bitter experiences with Plesk, and it was great choice... Both Helm and HC offers wonderful features for host and reseller. The best part in both CPs is user-friendly interface and logical distribution of categories.
Blessed.
DotNetPanel 04-21-2006, 06:17 PM I currently use HELM Control Panel ...
As I see, you need reviews of Windows hosting control panels only, because Helm is a Windows panel. Right?
What do you use?
What would you say is the best in terms of features and ease of use? ...
Why are you asking this? Aren't you satisfied with Helm?
besty 04-24-2006, 09:54 AM HELM is best control panel among the windows CP's.. I believe that you are requesting regarding the best among windows CP's and not linux
-GWS- 04-24-2006, 01:09 PM We currently use both cPanel and H-Sphere. Will be switching to cPanel completely and closing down the H-Sphere servers. cPanel seems to be more user freindly and we might have lost or not been able to gain customers becuase for the last 4 years we only offered H-Sphere. Customers seem to like cPanel more.
babbitt 04-25-2006, 02:08 AM I used Cpanel for a couple years, but found it to be slow and technical problems seemed to take a long time to fix. In addition to being expensive
I have been using ZOMOS for the last couple of years without any problems. It seems faster, and the interface makes more sense to me. They have recently upgraded the ZOMOS panel and I installed the new version last week without any problems. It is probably of the easiest installations I have preformed, great improvement over past versions. I also couldn't beat the price compared to Cpanel.

dollar 04-25-2006, 02:09 AM DirectAdmin is by far my favorite control panel.
