View Full Version : Control Panels - The reseller's choice
shockuk 04-08-2006, 01:56 PM Hi all,
Yet another control panel thread: however, I'm looking for the views of resellers instead of endusers.
Which control panel would you rather offer to your endusers?
My feelings on the subject:
> Since cPanel has a brand name, and many endusers go straight for it, this may be a preference on getting those initial signups.
> Since Plesk is *much* more easier for an "amateur webmaster" to use, this may cut down on support requests.
> Since VHCS is free, and Confixx/DirectAdmin are low-cost, these savings will likely be passed down the hosting chain, and benefit you by lower costs.
What does everyone else think, which CP would benefit your business more? If you currently run a host, what CP would you use "next time"?
FH-Donald 04-08-2006, 02:00 PM I use cpanel and would choose it again, WHM is very easy to use.
as far as the others being easier, i dont get any complaints with cpanel.
I beleive it is very user friendly.
2Macs Jim 04-08-2006, 07:08 PM We only use H-Sphere.
webhos 04-09-2006, 03:36 AM I prefer cpanel for linux and helm for windows.....
CyberHostPro 04-09-2006, 05:54 AM HELM is prob the best.
Yash-JH 04-09-2006, 07:10 AM We only use H-Sphere.
I'd put my vote in for HSphere, if there was an option :)
Aussie Bob 04-09-2006, 07:44 AM I think Cpanel will get the vast majority around these parts.
Been using Cpanel since 2001, and it does the job.
gate2vn 04-09-2006, 08:34 AM I am going with DirectAdmin. Very stable, easy to use
dolay 04-09-2006, 12:57 PM There are not any control panel comparable to cPanel! [when i say that always a hsphere user disclaim :D watch this]
cPanel only - is that the Java Servlets not supported officially and none of the tomcat nor jboss not suggested though we hav tried to run them no luck overloads the server like a hell and even 5GB ram wont be enough to run tomcat on cPane linstalled server...
But no doubt within the Linux hosting adminstration panel, cPanel is the leading control panel.
I'd have to have two votes:
For a reseller, H-Sphere is second to none, with it's inbuilt billing/support modules and dual platform capabilities though it can be overkill for some resellers.
My second vote would be for a single-OS CP; cPanel. Of the single Operating System control panel's cPanel and plesk are very, very close. cPanel has less than H-Sphere to offer, but can't be accused of overkill and thus, in my opinion, takes "best single OS control panel".

mripguru 04-09-2006, 01:13 PM Simon,
You just took the words out of my mouth :D (and that's comming from someone who doesn't particularly like cPanel anymore).

GigabitONE 04-09-2006, 01:53 PM I prefer cpanel for linux and helm for windows... but if look for stable I will go for directadmin for linux
besty 04-11-2006, 08:16 AM I too prefer cpanel for linux and helm for windows.. as per (administering and enduser ) also it is very easy to manage than any.. :-)
scott_simplenet 04-18-2006, 07:10 PM Although some find it "simple" I believe cPanel is the best choice as it just runs so smoothly. It's easy to use, customers hardly ever generate TT's and is overall a good choice.
jmweb 04-18-2006, 07:39 PM cPanel is without a doubt the most popular.
