Hello,

Anyone ever have a server at Tranxact Global?

Any good?

I was talking to them and they mentioned something about a special coming up but wouldnt give me any more info. Said I had to wait and see but that I would like the deal. Something about Project Mercury and 500gb of bandwidth for cheap monthly fee.

Anyone know anything? Or should i just get a server from them now?

Thanks!

-John

hmm interesting :)

I reckon they are pretty good, they own the datacenter and relationship to rackshack, but i'm not too sure

But has anyone heard about their Project Mercury?
Uhm, 500gb of bandwidth is a lot. Anyone get any other information?

sailor metioned Project Mercury in another forum in his advertise post, but he didn't get into detail yet.
So, i guess we'll have to wait, should be good, he always bring us some great deals :)

I just ordered a server today from them, Nobody said nothing about a project Mercury.

I hope I am not going regret not waiting:bawling:

Oh well, live and learn I guess.

As far as good, I guess I will see, it is my first server with them but have heard good stuff about them, and I was able to get Jeff on the phone right away so that impressed me.

I had a server with them for a month, i never used it though. Cause i requested a different server, and their was a mixup.
During this one month, i sent quite a bit of trouble tickets.

And i can say, that they respond VERY swiftly. And support is always on point.

I have a server at TranxactGlobal and it's been running great! Support is good and uptime is very good.

With more companies offering more bandwidth like Rackshack with 400 GB, WebReseller with 450 GB, I'm not surprised if they would jump in by offering 500 GB. Soon maybe we'll be able to get 1000 GB bandwidth at sub $150 server :D

Talking about Tranxact Global, you can also try eServers.biz, they are partners with TG. Same offering, just really great service and support...

They also mentioned something about project mercury to me also. I am very eager to see what it is.

eservers.biz are great, I have had nothing short of excellent service from them. Shazad has even fixed problems for us within minutes of posting on their forum. They seem to give more service for unmanaged servers, which does help if you run into problems, as you do from time to time.

Check them out!

Project Mercury is a new smokin offer coming your way soon, you will be impressed! Not going into too much detail yet, but the systems and service on offer is quite unique. :stickout

That’s enough said, for now! And enough to keep you guys from sleepless nights ;)

I have had a lot of questions on Project Mercury.

I can confirm that words to describe it are:
Better Faster Cheaper

How do they do that?

This is awesome!

Hardware upgrade path included with subscription - wow think of that!

All kinds of goodies - I will not confirm or deny the numbers above - but can say that we ahve been listening to all of you out there.

Stay tuned - the first release will be in the next 4 weeks and will be a set number of servers. We project to releaset he same number of servers one time a week and are projecting them to sell out on the first day. We will announce these and will give two release times each day so as to be convenient for our customers on both sides of the Globe.

Thanks and stay tuned. :)

What kind of download speeds is everyone getting at Tranxact Global on their test page?

http://www.tranxactglobal.com/speedtest/

And what kind of download are you using? Cable etc.

I'm getting around 48kb/sec using a cable modem.

Don't know about that but I've been transferring files to my eservers server at 4.5MB p/s ... :-)

Planned upgrade to XP1700 for free at the later of when chip pricing hits 65 or 6 months after the server is installed so you dont have to worry about moving servers.

I will release pricing shortly.

What brand motherboard are you going to use? It seems that RackShack had a very high failure/crash rate with their Durons compared to all other CPU's they have offered.

Also there was talk of you bringing another bandwidth provider in at some point in additoin to Aleron and Cogent. Did this happen or will it happen in the near future?

how this is going to relate to current customers? Are we stuck with 300 Gig?

Monte

sailor
05-29-2002, 04:43 AM
500 gigs will be applied across all our customers.

we have added abovenet already. Are in discussions with one more right now. Will depend on amount of traffic generated in the next 30 days out of this offer.

we are sticking with aopen on the motherboards - have had good luck with them and they will accomodate the faster chips for the upgrade path we are including.

Techark

if I could get those 40 gig drives I just bought from you stretched to 60 I would be in good shape:D

When will the 500 upgrade take effect?

OK so maybe I can get one of the new ones once I get this filled.

Hm ... that's an internal transfer ... probably just between one port of a switch to different one. I can do that at 11MB/s, almost maxed out my 100 mbps switch port :)

cheers,

That sounds like a great offer Sailor! I hope you could surprise us with the pricing :)

BTW, the download speed from my server at dv2 has improved since you dropped Aleron and replaced it with Abovenet from Nation-Net. It's now averaging at 1 MB/s (before was 500 KB/s). Keep it up! I hope someday you could beat the download speed I get on my Webreseller server (1.5 MB/s).

My wonders when he only has one server
Ive personally peaked it at 68mbps, externally (not within the our network) ...

DV2 Network: Not the fastest but it's pretty good right the way through.. I get about 1.5Megs per second downloads from the UUnet at peak times, which I think is good as all my customers are accessing their sites (some say they download at 120KB/s on a 1mb cable connection). I think the approximate 1MB/s is pretty accurate of the network, maybe they will make it faster in the future, but for the security they offer - Vlan etc so people can't steal your IPs I think it's pretty good.

Hope Sailor releases this offer at $99 per month no setup, good competition with the other big companies.

More realistically, maybe $149 p/m $0 Setup if it includes upgrades and how about kernel updated every 3 months? Would make a sweet offer.

we actually did not drop them - our neighbor (NN) also had them and had abovenet - so it made more sense for me to get a conection with them and get 2 networks for th price of one. Also - gave me flexibility with no local access charges and no commits. :)

Those kind of deals keep me competitive for you guys. I am working on getting a group to do their build that has sprint and uunet in atlanta for transit - this would be awesome - they already have a cage in our facility - they just put their build on hold last year for budgets (seems everyone did). Will keep you up to date.

Drum roll please.................................

and the winner is 129.00 per month with no install!!!!!!!

We should have the website order form set up shortly and start taking orders - we have already sold our initial alotment to current customers and will have more for them this week. If you want one and you are not a current customer - check the order forms on our site for inventory levels - these will be for everyone.

This is an awesome offer that gives you investment protection on upgrades.

Is this just a private arrangement with select or are tranxact going to be telling all their customers about it and offering it to them.

*we have already sold our initial alotment to current customers and will have more for them this week*

I didn't hear anything about this, so I assume that it must be a private thing for now even though I am a current customer.

Edit: The only way I knew was from eServers.biz informing me of the exciting deal. It seems they have alot better communication with their customers and want to sell servers more - a good thing for a company to have, maybe tranxact will pick up on the style.

twrs

Yeah, so do I. I didn't hear anything from them about the Project Mercury offer although I'm also a current customer.

BurtonHost
06-04-2002, 11:20 AM
I think it's pretty unfair for those people who are customers and don't read WHT (gasp) or don't know anything about Project Mercury or who to contact as it's not on their website yet and they have apparently already sold out of their first batch. We must be out of the loop.
