View Full Version : Need a CHEAP but BEST web host ;-)
[ANALY$T] 05-17-2002, 01:09 AM Hi,
Apologize if this question has been asked a zillion and one times in this forum before.
Is there anyone who can recommend a CHEAP & RELIABLE web host offering the choice of hosting multiple domains in one account (requirements PHP and mySQL).
I've a large number of domains that I'd like to host and Ima looking for a host who is willing to offer these. I've checked the one I know (2mhost - cheapest as far as I know), but with their package I could host only 1 domain per account and more over mySQL costs extra.
So, kindly let me know if any of you have suggestions that would match my pocket.
TIA,
- A N A L Y $ T
Jedito 05-17-2002, 01:28 AM cheap and reliable rarely comes togheter.
Any service, like everything in this life, cost money.
[ANALY$T] 05-17-2002, 01:34 AM i understand and that's the reason iam here on a look out..

25 MB ??? Your site says 35 MB ...not to mean any thing else..but isn't 2mhst offering 50 MB for $1.50 / month
ofcourse with no SQL
regards,
Jedito 05-17-2002, 02:34 AM try a search about 2mhost in this forum and you'll see why they cost $1.5 per month.
When I said "Any service, like everything in this life, cost money" I meaned, that what you get is what you pay for.
Lurleene 05-17-2002, 10:33 AM If you want offers, post in the requests section. No-one can offer you anything here, they can only recommend and give you guidelines (one, of course, is you need to choose between cheap and reliable; you're not going to get both--true of any product).
skylab 05-17-2002, 10:57 AM hmm. not sure about the multiple domain part, but if you want cheap AND reliable, i think you have to look at around $5 - $9 per month.
but perhaps check out www.alwayswebhosting.com or www.phpwebhosting.com
[ANALY$T] 05-17-2002, 11:33 AM thanks to you all.

Sorry, mutually exclusive!

Nope, not really -
If,
G = { cheap hosts, best hosts, reliable hosts }
B = { cheap hosts, best hosts }
then,
G (intersection) B = { cheap hosts, best hosts }

the above is correct, but not the whole truth, which is:
G = { cheap hosts, best hosts, reliable hosts } = the empty set
B = { cheap hosts, best hosts } = the empty set as a subset of G, which is the empty set
and of course if B is a subset of G then
G (intersection) B = B
and as shown above
B = the empty set
and therefore
G (intersection) B = the empty set
or briefly:
any subset of the empty set is the empty set itself
and also
the empty set intersected with any set is the empty set itself
blah... enough set theory for today :)
Lurleene 05-17-2002, 10:31 PM The structure may be sound, but the premise is flawed.
[Edit]: Uh, yeah, I wrote this post while aux was doing a better job of it... :blush:

Why is it an empty set ? It does have elements in it. You mean to say all Hosting Businesses are empty sets ;-)

[ANALY$T] 05-17-2002, 11:52 PM btw, can some one respond to my request posted @

aircrush 05-18-2002, 03:40 AM cyberpixels =) my current host
plans start at 5$ and it includes everything you listed and they're
support is excellent.
[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 11:26 AM but they don't have a pkg to host multiple domains !!!
[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 11:40 AM OK, I got it but do they provide phpMyAdmin ?
[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 11:41 AM oops ...and private name servers ???
[ANALY$T], I'm also looking for a host for multiple domains and leaning towards dominet.net (http://www.dominet.net). You might want to look into them. If anyone can share some info on dominet, I would appreciate it. :)
[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 02:34 PM but which of their plans are you looking at ?
I'm looking at the professional plan, comes with support for 3 extra domains and is $14.95/month with a yearly charge. If you have more domains, the corporate plan supports 5 extra domains at $19.95 with a yearly charge.
I'm looking at yearly charges because it is overall cheaper, not sure if that's an issue with you.
I also have a few databases and they support multiple dbs (15 with the professional plan).
My account with Hostrocket expires at the end of this month and I'm looking to move. It would be nice if I can get more stuff (domains/space/etc) for less $$. :cool: So far, the comments I've seen (while doing a search here) about Dominet have been positive. If anyone has experiences with Dominet, please share. Would hate to be stuck in something sucky for a year.
[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 02:49 PM cool..thanks for the info..but what's your opinion about these other two web hosts alwayswebhosting and cyberpix ???
alina 05-18-2002, 03:07 PM cyberpixels are cheap and new, also, they have great support on AIM and ICQ...
Also, you can get a custom plan, that fits your needs...
JWise 05-18-2002, 03:31 PM When you say cheap state a price as to whats cheap for you, and you might get better replies :)
[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 03:36 PM < = ~ 25 USD

[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 03:44 PM I wouldn't mind if you'd offer me a deal /yr... :);)
but i meant /mo
Lurleene 05-18-2002, 08:36 PM Why is it an empty set ? It does have elements in it.
Well, most people here are telling you it is an empty set, and that means it doesn't have elements in it.
If you intersect the set of penguins with the set of raccoons, you're gonna come up empty.
Good luck finding a $2.50/month host that stays in business for more than a month...... :rolleyes:
HRBrendan 05-18-2002, 08:55 PM Expanding your company with services that do not generate a profit, is not sound growth. It really isnt growth at all, growth with the wrong business model is not a growth in value, its a growth in volume which in turn is a destruction of value. Not a sound business model, and a sign of a company that is not in business for the long run whether they know it or not. Ask your host to go read a good business management book... like this one for example, so they might be in business a year or two from now.

[ANALY$T] 05-18-2002, 09:27 PM Very much true. I completely agree on this one. That's what reliability is based upon.
atomoverride 05-20-2002, 03:11 PM how true that is read the story:
http://news.atomoverride.com/archives/000092.php#000092 (my news post at my website.)
http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359743#post359743
After reading thouse I am sure you will stay away from 2mhost as they are robbers and thiefs.
phpjames 05-20-2002, 09:47 PM You'll find that you will get what you pay for. Finding a plan for 2.95 probably wont give you excellent support and certainly would qualify for a BEST webhost. Good luck.
akashik 05-20-2002, 10:29 PM $25 a month will get you very good hosting at almost any company listed on this board. If you're budgeting to spend that, then I'd seriously consider doing so. It's less than a phone bill (generally a lot less), but people seem to think it's expensive to hang their entire online business off which is verging on madness, in my opinion.

[ANALY$T] 05-21-2002, 12:30 AM Thanks Akashik but I've signed up with AWH yesterday.
Just wanted to let everyone know about this and thank them for their support & suggestions.
