Just as an example.
NY city has a pop of around 10 million and i were to name my webhosting company say newyorkwebhosting.com -- is this something that is worth registering/trademarking?
I recently registered mumbaiwebhosting.com (mumbai a city in India with a population more than that of NY city) and i want to target specifically to that city with my website.
I just wanted your opinion on:
1) is the name mumbaiwebhosting.com -- too long? ( i thought it would be easy to remember).
2) Is it worth investing that much money in actually registering and trademarking this name.
3) if # 2 has a positive response i will have to buy other TLD's around it -- which does cost some $$!!.
Thanks in advance for your opinion. :lovewht:

someone already has a website biz mumbaihosting.com. I wonder if hostmumbai.com might sound/look simillar. --- that was part of the reason to put "web"
Also Hosting by itself means "hosting what? to an ordinary person "web"hosting on the other hand seems to indicate something.
thanks for answering.

I liked the name you suggest and purchased the domain -- thanks for recommending that.
But in your opinion does it sound simillar to mumbaihosting.com?(which already sells hosting services?)

If you're looking for opinions, I believe mumbaiwebhosting.com is perfectly fine as a name. Perhaps you could point hostmumbai.com to the same website, and use it for radio advertising since it is shorter.

I don't think it's a very good brand... What if you decide to expand outside of Mumbai?
But, definitely, get the domain if you plan to specialize in it. It is good for SEO.

I feel webhosting in mumbai has a lot of potential.I live here in Buffalo and will also be making one website oriented towards the local market.
Heres the breakdown:
1) Main website directed towards webhosting.
2) One website directed towards my local town(buffalo/NY where i live)
3) One website for Mumbai
4) One website towards Hyderabad ( another indian city).
I have some good friends in mumbai and after living there for 18 years there is still a lot of attachment to life there.I could always outsource phone support locally etc.
But certainly # 1 above comes first , if that works out reasonably well ONLY then i move on to the others ones on the list.
I am just trying to justify buying the right domains for now so i can use them later when the time is RIGHT!!
any suggestions are very welcome..
I am still at a loss as to what business structure to form. LLC is for sure.
BUT mainly how do the others ones in the list fit into what business structure and i have to plan for the future ---- if i have more websites -- will they be DBA's if so how can i legally attach them to the one LLC i have? How to actually register and trademark and when ? --- these are some of the questions in my head -
i have made some posts here regarding LLC etc i just have to make a search on them and read again all the comments posted.
thanks

It depends upon the marketing strategy you put in and how you are going to create iindividual identity and brand. BTW The name you have choosen earlier was also simillar.

Mumbaihosting.com belongs to someone and they are running their biz.
So if i were to do biz as mumbaiwebhosting.com OR hostmumbai.com is that any issue big OR small --------------- or should i just forget about it and go for something totally different.
Mumbai is different -- the way i see it if i dont say hosting or something simillar it will not hit home.
Thanks
One more way of doing it is coming up with a single brand name and creating different sections in it for the different geographic areas that you're targeting.
Take a look at companies like Amazon, eBay, Google, etc. and you'll see that their name doesn't necessarily relate to what they do. The opposite side of that is that companies like Microsoft, HTTPMe, etc. have keywords in their name that relates to what they do in some way.
I would take some time to come up with a name that can be branded with multiple target markets. You'll be putting the combined effort and branding into one name as well in comparison to the branding being split up among each of your different brands/subsidiaries.
