View Full Version : Chargeback advice

I need advice on some time issues as to when I should issue a charge back.

I signed up with a hosting company. They were very bad at basically everything, so I opted for my 30-day money back. I did this 10 days before my 30 days were over. They canceled my accounts and sent me an email stating that I was getting a refund and to wait 1-5 days to check my statement.

15 days later of me checking my statement. Still no refund, so I drop them an email letting them know that the refunds have not posted to my accounts. First email they send is very unprofessional and almost in a rude manner saying “we have already issued the refunds and if they haven’t showed up, let us know”. I wonder if they even read my email.

They emailed me back saying that X amount has already been credited and the rest will be in the next 1-10 days (now its 1-10 days, before it was 1-5). It has already been clear over 25 days since I’ve canceled my account and I really don’t like being danced around with and that is what it seems like. If they don't plan to refund the money till a certain time, they should just say so.

In the process, I’ve decided to add up all my charges and discovered there were extra charges than were NOT included in their billing center, which I have notified them of the extra charges and have yet to hear back on.

Another incident has sprung off this issue (well there are many but I will only mention this one). I have a credit card that I use only when my other one is maxed, so it is never really used, atleast not in past 3-4 months. So I submitted that credit card to them, only them. 15-20 days later I get a letter and calls from my credit card company asking if I made certain charges. My credit card number was stolen! Yes, it could have been stolen another way, but this is too big of a coincidence to me.

So I guess my questions leads down to, when do I stop trying to communicate with them and just issue my charge backs. They aren’t even clear on how much they owe me and they keep stating, “We refunded the money” and “Another “1-10 days”.

There name is banned on this forum (I would give anything to go back in time to find this board before this incident!), but if anyone would like to know their name just pm me. This really is a buyer beware, especially since this is only 25% of the story.

Thank you for your advice in advanced.

IMO youve waited way toooo long.
I would contact that credit card company TODAY (immediately)
and get that situation rectified!
As far as that other card incident...have your cc just close that card completely and issue another to you.

Martie is correct,

You need to contact your credit card company today! Be sure include the dates that the credits were suppose to apply. I would also suggest to mention the other information about another card being stolen.

Never hurts to let them know even if its a different company. Especially if it is a case of identity theft.

Good Luck,
Zach

littlest,

I believe you have 60 days to do a charge back and it looks as if half of that is wasted now so I would contact your CC company now. Get the paperwork and fill it out.

Bank and credit card says I have to wait 30 days from the time they posted or claimed they posted their refund, to get help on the issue. If I don't get my refunds within the 30 days, then I get my money back with proper paper work, such as a receipt.

So this is good information to know. That once they have issued (or claimed) than you have to wait 30 days before you can file with the banks/credit card company. We will just have to see what happens. Thanks for all the advice.
