View Full Version : Beach Comber : Down again
My reseller provider down again.
I signup them using the 50% discount and they're always down. Maybe they put all this sign up in an oversell enviroment.
:bawling: For the two months i get around 98% uptime most.
Very unluckly when the server down i am browsing the web site so i know I talked to them at livehost and i think they hated me  too lucky ya...

If so it is up. Maybe you should contact support if you do not see it.

I'm sure beachcomber.net doesn't have client domains on the same server as their company site, so if their site is up doesn't mean that any client sites on different servers are not down.

Not, my account is down, FITX flush in progress, or "I trace it" and, oops, there it is.
My reseller provider down again.

Their downtime is not long but quite often. I think i should get another host. Beachcomber is not as good as what the people at WHY said. Maybe they're better in dedicated ? :crying:
SmakDaddy 04-04-2006, 10:22 PM Nah, they are, for sure.
The people at WHY don't lie. ;)

Using a ping to determine if a website is up or down is a very unreliable way to determine if a site is up or down.
gearworx 04-05-2006, 01:47 PM I agree with jmweb. The ICMP ping may determine if a server is up but what if the host has disabled the ICMP echo?
Going back to the issue there many reasons why a server may not respond but I wouldn't complain about it here. Complain to the host and get them to:
A. Fix the issue, explain it to you why it keeps going down
B. Hold them up to their up-time guarantee (if they have one) and see if you can get reimbursed for the downtime
C. Consider alternatives as a last resort.
Cheers.

MAY being the key word. Lets look at some examples where a server is unpingable but the site is up.

I wonder what the total downtime was...
I also wonder how long it was actually down here. You may want to see about perhaps getting an SLA credit if it infact was network side.
ZoneServ.com 04-05-2006, 04:23 PM Very disappointing from BeachComber,
In my eyes they were always professional and reliable.
I would like to see what they have to say about this!

Providers ARE going to have their moments. This doesn't mean that beachcomber is any less reliable then what they were. Just means something happened. More then the likely the issue is corrected by now.

Of course, that is obvious mate.
In my opinion though; this is the real test, to see the provider deals with the problems.
SmartTux 04-05-2006, 07:03 PM CommunityZ, I would just say your time is bad since it started since you signed up(assuming server to be fine before it -- havent heard of any complaint in WHT). And they are known to be quite good in support also.
I have seen only good reviews about them. And I do know a customer who has shared hosting with them, and quite happy :)
Lets see how they are going to deal with this..
Whatever kind of server you have, if you overload them, you are dead :-)
Commit1 Anthony 04-07-2006, 12:22 AM My reseller provider down again.
I signup them using the 50% discount
Do I see a sign here?
KnownHost 04-07-2006, 12:24 AM Ask for refund or credits if you have downtime. Remember you are the customer and have the right. It is the best way to make it known you want good service.

Swelly 04-07-2006, 06:21 PM Did you ever find out about an SLA, as I mentioned in the previous post?
xentury 06-17-2006, 04:40 AM I've also been having problems lately with beachcomber. During the last 2 months there's been frequent downtime. I was expecting it to change and go back to normal, but it's worse each time. Right now my reseller acocunt is down, and there's no one at the technical support chat...
I'm very disappointed with them :(
