What are you looking for in a Windows Reseller package? GigabitONE 04-04-2006, 05:53 PM cold fusion and with unlimited mssql database :) CyberHostPro 04-04-2006, 05:54 PM I run a host, and my resellers think more to uptime & support before features. GigabitONE 04-04-2006, 06:23 PM yes. I do agree on uptime and support but most of the users who sign-up with me is because of MS SQL :) surfinmtns 04-04-2006, 09:33 PM Here's a few but with time I could think of more. I only host for my web design and development clients but plan to expand my hosting offerings in the future. The Usual: Good diskspace and bandwidth allowances ASP, ASP.Net, MYSQL Most popular components Unlimited email features including web mail etc... The Varied: Fast and responsive support Support Chat Friendly and Customer Oriented Excellent Uptime Excellent Response Times Competitive Pricing Secure web servers (internal and external) Cold Fusion Streaming Media The Unusual: End-User Phone Support Option Choice of several CP's Easy Migration to and from Good stats software (can send emails) Reseller Live Chat Marketing support or resources SyPliX 04-04-2006, 09:45 PM well put surfinmtns. surfinmtns 04-04-2006, 10:07 PM Thanks SyPlix. Now if I could only find all that in one package with a few more add-ons to the Unsual: The host will not be aquired in a year or two Good communications about host and server issues More components: URL Masking/Rewriting, PDF, etc... Excellent and Fair SLA/Terms my_other_identity 04-05-2006, 06:07 AM From what I see you guys aren't asking for anything that isn't out there already... Yash-JH 04-05-2006, 08:30 AM Hmm, maybe the ability to let your clients choose where in the world they'd want their windows sites to be hosted? mjb-is 04-05-2006, 01:50 PM cold fusion and with unlimited mssql database :) Both of which are expensive technlogies to be running legitimately and so need to be recovered with appropriate pricing. webpromo 04-05-2006, 09:04 PM Both of which are expensive technlogies to be running legitimately and so need to be recovered with appropriate pricing. Agreed. I love it when customers want everything in the world and not realize that costs. surfinmtns 04-07-2006, 05:33 AM my_other_identity From what I see you guys aren't asking for anything that isn't out there already... In one package? Show me where. I'm sure some dedicated server solutions offer it all but they are genrally out of my price range. Agreed. I love it when customers want everything in the world and not realize that costs. I used to pay $80 a month for a reseller plan that was horrible and then I found some of the Hsphere solutions for 40-50$. I'd pay more for the right solution. CyberHostPro 04-07-2006, 05:41 AM Hi For the budget you have a reseller package or a small VPS would be good for you. Do you prefer windows or linux? Padwah 04-07-2006, 08:34 AM Most of the things that people have mentioned are just standard hosting requests that aren't dependant on the hosting operating system. Windows specific stuff that I look for when looking for a host are a good range of third paty components (aspJPEG, aspEMAIL, aspUPLOAD etc), reasonably priced MSSQL servers and cold fusion support if the client wants it. I'm currently using jodohost.com and they've been fantastic. surfinmtns 04-07-2006, 05:04 PM Hi For the budget you have a reseller package or a small VPS would be good for you. Do you prefer windows or linux? I generally use Windows but would like the Linux option for my clients and customers. Most of the things that people have mentioned are just standard hosting requests that aren't dependant on the hosting operating system. .... I'm currently using jodohost.com and they've been fantastic. I've heard great things about Jodohost and have been considering moving to them. I will say that one thing I do not like about Hsphere are the stats. Many of my clients really want thier stats emailed to them. Another problem with these stats is that if you want your client to view them you have to give them the FTP login and password. Most of my clients are web design clients and I manage their CP's exclusively. They have no access and would break things if they did. With Hsphere you generally only get one FTP per account and I don't like giving out the main password to the site just so they can access the stats. The alternatives are higher customer cost's thru the use of hosted or local stats programs. Or am I missing something? CyberHostPro 04-07-2006, 05:13 PM for linux hosting use Cpanel. if you ever choose windows hosting use HELM :) I used linux hosting from indigohosts.co.uk for a small linux script i have. |
