What is an average price per GB of bandwidth that you would expect a customer to pay? Would it be more around $0.23 or $0.75 .....Any input would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!!

I would say $2-$3 per GB and no less than $1.5/GB ... This is for Tier1 bandwith (BGP, multi homed). Cogent, much less ...

Thanks for responding Dave. I was trying to get a colo customer and he wanted to colo his 1U server and needed 400Gigs. I sent him a very good quote and then he asks me if I can match any other pricing. I told him to send it to me and I would see what I could do. He sends me one that says 1U server with 600Gigs per month for $200 - how do you politely tell someone "you get what you pay for" without sounding like a jerk?:(

I know what RS stands for in that instance...What I ment to say was, are you saying I suggest he go to RackShack, even though I want the customer, or should I not even bother with him?

Dont bother with him. He obviously is just looking at the price and nothing else(support, bw quality etc etc).

I say, give him a quote on your services, and if he wants to pay less, tell him its as low as you go. Let him go off and get some crappy colo run out of a basement of someones house with a Yipes connection. Believe me, he will be coming back to you sooner or later :)

The thing that irritates me is that on his initial request, he stated he didnt want to spend more than $500, and I came in well under that amount, now he is trying to swindle me....its so frustrating. My manager just called and said he was going to contact him, so at least I dont have to mess with him anymore. I am not a sales person anyway.

I would say that $1.50 per GB should be the lowest you advertise without a large commitment.

you can get from around $1.50 GB multihomed as people previously posted. More likely $1.75 per gig

DV2 in Atlanta quoted me $35/U colo space and $1/GB Bandwidth.

Thought that was pretty good... of course their support is expensive ($40/15 min.) but if you're going to manage them yourself it shouldn't matter (unless there was a hardware failure).

I guess average/normal price is $0.70/$0.90/$1.2 per GB with 2500/1000/0 GB monthly commitment and $25/1U rackspace.

Well I remember that Ed from pwebtech posted some prices a while ago for the DCJN network that were $1 per GB transfer for DCJN which is what I am paying (with no-where like the commitment mentioned above - like around 100-200GB). I like the network - cheap and cheerful - with good connections to europe and asia etc, which is what a lot of ppl complain about with the cheaper alternatives such as cogent.
