Ok I got me a Linux test server to play with and learn Linux. So I'll be asking lotsa questions around this board on top of reading lotsa books :). First question that I have and that I cannot find an answer to. is as follows.

1) This server came without ftp daemon installed, I want to install proftp on it. I know that proftp comes in rpm flavor what I don't know is the exact steps that I should follow to install the darn thing. Since I don't have a ftp daemon in a first place I cannot upload it, anyone can help me here? :confused:

it shound come with an ftp installed, or if lynx is installed use that to go to www.rpmfind.net and search for proftpd. from there you can download the rpm through lynx and rpm -Uvh proftpd* or whatever the filename is, that should then install it, if not, try rpm -i <filename>. if you need any more help feel free to contact me on ICQ or pm.
