Hello,
am looking for the cheap, but reliable ICANN accredited .eu registrar.

ICANN Accreditation is not required to become a member of one of the many ccTLD Registries. With a deposit of 10 000 EUR at EURid it's rather simple to buy directly from them (compared to the NON-REFUNDABLE fees charged for .de)

Direct Registry pricing is 10 EUR (excl. VAT)
Reseller's offers start at about 12 EUR (excl. VAT) ... at least the ones I know :-)

Hello,
am looking for the cheap, but reliable ICANN accredited .eu registrar.

Cheap means NON-reliable. This is true for 99.99% registrars (and not only).

Will this be for yourself or you'll resell the domains?

For myself. Cheap and reliable I mean companies like godaddy and namecheap i.e. Both are cheap and good. But maybe it is worth to register eu domain via Europe registrar?

1. I wouldn't call GoDaddy reliable;
2. You're right about registering .eu via EU companies. I think even in Lithuania you have some of them: http://list.eurid.eu/registrars/ListRegistrars.htm?lang=en - aren't they reliable (just curious)?
3. I wouldn't recommend Namecheap in this particular case. eNom isn't very famous for it's ccTLD connectivity and/or functionality.

Good luck!

The prices in Lithuania is about EUR 30. I can get twice as lower somewhere in other European country. The question is company's reliability.

The question is company's reliability.

And for that you must pay a *PREMIUM*.

Do you think that none of the Eurid acredited Lithuanian companies are reliable?

They are reliable, but all are hosting companies, not registrars before eu domain. Why should I risk and pay more in Lithuania if I can register i.e. with www.joker.com which is registrar for many years.

Could you elaborate on this? Shouldnt they just forward the domain information to EURid's servers?

Whould you need it only for yourself or as a reseller? I could offer .eu Registrations after the launch of Landrush for 16 EUR. Payable by PayPal or EU money order.

Dutch registrar ODR (opendomainregistry.net) offers .eu domains for 11,50 (euro). Another dutch registrar (www.transip.nl) sells them for 12,50 (euro).

Both are reliable.

cheap never will reliable .eu registrar. All depend on amount of accreditations, it means more accreditations, more registered domain per second.

I would call GoDaddy reliable, Stan :)

Actually I'd recommend them for .eu registrations as well. They were the only registrar that I use regularly that was even offering live registration over the past week, since landrush started. Most of my other registrar's Enom/NameCheap/MyDomain(Dotster) had closed their .eu registrations and were not offering them, citing problems at EURid. Which GoDaddy had no problems with overcoming, it seems.

At $14.75, that's a pretty good price, as well.

1. They perhaps are reliable, untill someone complains (with reason or otherwise) about your site as spamvertised.

2. They couldn't offer 'live' registrations, because of the reason Bob wrote in his blog - registrar's queque at Eurid for every single registration.

3. Price shouldn't be the only thing motivating you to chose one or another registrar.

That's reliable in my book :) You KNOW what's going to happen :(

2. They couldn't offer 'live' registrations, because of the reason Bob wrote in his blog - registrar's queque at Eurid for every single registration

Funny. I've been registering live .eu registrations at GoDaddy for more than several days already. The domains are even resolving now. So don't let your bias against GoDaddy cloud your impeccable judgement.

3. Price shouldn't be the only thing motivating you to chose one or another registrar.

I agree with this statement. But it seems to be a factor for many people. I didn't choose Godaddy for the price, although it helped, I chose them because they were the only one of my regular registrars which were offering live .eu registrations when I wanted them.

Yes, but it was AFTER 7th april. I'm sure!

Sure. But my point was that my other regular registrars weren't offering live registrations after that date, citing problems with EURid. GoDaddy was the ONLY ONE of my regular registrars which were offering live registrations after that date. They apparently didn't have ANY problems connecting to EURid's servers.

Few days after the landrush - yes... The point was to connect during the first minutes and hours... And at THAT time no one could offer 'live' registrations.

hehe, true. But even DAYS later, GD were still the only one of my usual registrars which were registering .eu domains in real-time, or even AT ALL.
