View Full Version : I Take Back My Recommendations of Sedo

In the past, I have recommended Sedo.com as a trustworthy place to buy and sell domains.

However, a while ago, a low bid came through for a domain that I really wanted to keep. Obviously, if the bid was really high, I would have sold, but it was for only $200, and, quite frankly, I took it as an insult.

Well, apparently, Sedo thinks otherwise. Because several weeks later, I have NOT been able to cancel the negotiations, take the domain off the "for sale" list, or even delete the domain. They still list the bid as an active bid even after two weeks! They have effectively frozen me into this negotiation - even though I do NOT want to sell at this price.

Despite numerous attempts to contact them... they will NOT even respond to me!

So... I am deleting ALL my names from SEDO and I am taking back ANY and ALL recommendations that I have given them in the past.

How was it listed at Sedo? If it was a "fixed price" offer you shouldn't be getting any offers except at the fixed price. If it was a "make me an offer" offer then did you have a minimum price set? You shouldn't be getting any offers below your minimum price? If you had a price set then you would continue to get offers until your price was met. If you had no price set then I think you'd get all offers.

I'm surprised about your experience with their support. I've always had good support from them within a turnaround email time of 24hrs. Did you use their "contact us" email form or send an email direct to them? Emails do get lost. Have you tried calling them?

Personally, I think you're being a bit harsh on them. But then I'm not you. The saving grace is, the domain won't get sold unless it meets your asking price, or you agree to the sale. I've never actually had the luck to have sold anything at Sedo, so I'm not experienced with how they're offer/counter-offer system works.

Maybe I am being harsh, Stu, because the more I deal with this it appears to be a software glitch with this one domain. It's like the system is jammed with regard to this one offer/counter-offer negotiation.

It was a "Make Offer" situation with no minimum bid. It is a great domain and I'm used to people lowballing me... but no matter what I do to try to respond to this offer, their system will not accept the input. I've tried cancelling the negotiations several times. I've tried making a counter offer at the price I want. Nothing! The system keeps coming back with errors - like Input Error - no user ID (so I log out and then back in) - still says Input Error - no user ID. Or it says that I must enter in an amount in the counter offer section. Well, I've done this numerous times before with other domains - but for some reason, with this one domain, it won't accept ANY number I put in (and yes I know not to put in commas).

And I agree with you, in the past, I have always had great customer service with Sedo. But I have placed three customer service requests through their "contact us" form over 10 days and still no response.

So, I guess I needed to vent a little. Who knew I could be such a whiner and complainer. :stickout:

Well, I hope you get things sorted out with them. Perhaps a direct email as an alternative might work.

I always have a minimum bid, just to avoid having to deal with those real low-ballers. Actually, you are inviting them and they are entitled to low-ball you since you haven't set any minimum. Often the minimum bid I set is way lower than I'd like though, coz I just don't want to put everyone off :)

Vent away :) It's what were here for, apparently :)
