As far as I understood from reading several threads in this forum, yahoo does NOT let create you your own nameservers in form of ns1/2/3/4/etc.YOURDOMAINNAME.com. However, you might change them to whatever other nameservers you might like anytime.

Hope that helped you.

So that means unless your a reseller or host you don't need worry. The only real time you need your "own" nameservers is for as mentioned above. The real thing is how the support is like?

If you're reseller or host, you should (no, you *MUST*) find the better place for your domains.

the reason that i ask is i have several ideas for domains that i might be able to develop into something but i don't want to spend more than i need if those ideas doesn't take off and if it does than i might need name servers for hosting or other thing.

jt2377 >> Yahoo let you use their nameservers. The downside is that parking page is displayed and you're getting no revenue from it; so you better park them elsewhere untill you'll develop them...

Yahoo is quite good, IF you don't need support, balls and whistles control panel and you don't plan to transfer your domain away (you will NOT get an EPP authcode from them for EPP-based domains - please bear this in mind!).

Good luck!

A friend of mine said he had it done. Yahoo has to do it via the melbourne interface manually. he had 20 names with them so this may be the reason why

Trying to save money is always a good thing, but trying to save $5 per year per site is not worth the trouble of going with Yahoo in my experience.

$5 per year is just a little over a penny per day per site. Look in your couch each morning and you'll make up for the savings ;)

What happens if you have no furniture?

Then buying a domain name should not be at the top of your list ;)

wow! I love yahoo domains, they are simple to control and the settings work perfectly, def. better then 1&1 with my experience with both. I checked but it still says domains are $10/year and 3/year only for new members, is this true? could I make an accoun with a different name? I think members should get benefits, not just new people =/

1. Was this com/net or EPP-based domain?
2. What was the exact reason the transfer haven't went through?

does that mean you will get stuck with yahoo with your domain? since you can't transfer out...that is not good.

You CAN transfer, however for EPP-based domains (i.e. NOT com/net), the procedure is VERY difficult. Yahoo will NOT give you EPP codes - as simple as that; with all consequences.
