Hi all.
I'm from Singapore and boy... do I need some recommendations.
I'm intending to setup 2 websites for E-commerce and I need some opinons on a good web host, payment gateway provider etc.

Both websites target consumers in the U.S - so I have been told to go for web hosts with reliable connections to both the East and West Coast. This seems to be a reasonabe advice but how would I know which web host is reliable and has links to East and West Coasts ???

Web Site 1
Monthly and setup fees are not the primary concern. The owners are more concerned with security and dealing with a reputable firm with good uptimes. They feel that security is important and they like VERSIGN, WORLDPAY etc. My own opinon is that these might not be the best for them... any thoughts on this ?

Web Site 2
On a budget but would still like to work with a reasonable web host with good uptimes and connection speeds.

I have researched around in sites like tophosts.com hostindex.com thewhir.com webhostonline.com

All the information I get is pretty contridicting.
So far on the short-list I have

- hostway.com
- dellhost.com
- infinology.com

Any thoughts on my short-list or any other suggestions / recommendations please ?

I am not looking for a quote or any pricing. Just some good recommendations.

Thanks a million.....

Are you looking to get a host that will provide a service like worldpay for you, already intergrated?
Or are you looking to get a host and the merchant account yourself, and then integrate the two yourself?
I could recommend Worldpay to you.

I don't know about worldpay but revecom and 2checkout didn't work well for my singaporean mastercard.

I heard they don't work very well for asian customers either, but since you say that the website targets us customers, then it should be fine.

Popular hosts on this board may include:
http://www.site5.com
http://www.venturesonline.com

whom offer good support, and I think "good links to the east and west" of the states. =P

We're using OneFusion now, and since they're a Singaporean based company, you may want to check them out.

Their site is at http://www.onefusion.com - with the message boards for resellers located at http://resellers.onefusion.com

I am from Singapore too and I had 3 different web host for all my domains.

1st . www.simrtk.com
Hosted by AvailHosting (http://www.availhosting.com). Using their April special plan and I am satisfactory with their services so far.

2. www.sanguo-online.org / www.sanguo-online.net
Hosted by Netacore (http://www.netacore.com) and their support is quite ok.

3. www.sanguo-online.com
Hosted by MyHostPartner (http://www.myhostpartner.com), is a local Singapore web host, and I can said the support is very repsonsive.

Do take a look and compare yourself.

DifferentHost (http://www.differenthost.com) is located in Singapore, and there one of the best I've seen.

differenthost is most attractive in price but I don't think it supports merchant+credit card processing

He's not promoting his sites, he's just pointing out which site is hosted by who, and some of the people out there might wanna check the sites out to test the loading speed.

He's not even saying, hey, please come visit me.

If that is inappropriate, I will edit away the URL. Its put there so that potential customer can try and see how fast is the site loading spped, its not meant as advertising of my sites
