Hello everybody,

I'm a reseller and I have a problem, a costumer is running Moodle on his account, and the installation tells him, that Moodle needs the php_memory_limit to be 16Mb to run properly. I asked to the owner of the server to change this, but he says that it could make the server to be unstable ( i understad that, but my costumer does not )

So I'm looking for another reseller account in another company to set his 2 accounts up with that php_memory_limit up to 16Mb or something that can guarantee that moodle won't run out of memory.

The reseller account should have at least 4Gb of hard disk and 50-60Gb of bandwidth. My budget 10$ - 12$ not more ..

Where can I find that ? Can anybody help me ?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Best regards,

Look in webhosting offer Forum, There lot reseller who offer, Most of dont Put info about "php_memory_limit" on there website or offer, You Just have to email them and ask them. I would suggest also to use WHT Hosting Request http://www.webhostingtalk.com/request.php ( Some of Host Set to Autoreply to email, Just Skip them. Just look for WHO email you personality.)

I dont think the server can be unstable with that. The admin can easily to change memory_limit for each account, not for all. But you might need to pay for a larger package? If you are happy with the current host, you can ask them if they do that with larger package

Best regards,

If all your current provider has to do is change the php.ini file and restart the appropriate services. This shouldn't be too tough of a task and most hosts do not mind increasing this for you. We've done it for our customers in the past, and have not experienced any stability problems whatsoever.

I doubt the memory limit is tied to the package size at all.

Increasing the limit shouldn't not cause stability problems directly unless you set it to too high a value (in which case a few badly designed scripts could grind the server down to a halt by allocating far too much memory).

With modern servers 16Mb should not be a problem, though I do wonder what the script might be doing to require that much memory in a single PHP request...

Not going to happen. You are looking at 50 cents per gig and up if you want a reliable host. Though, if you just want a kiddie host you can even reduce your budget. It's really your choice :)

Second, I don't think I would trust much any hosts contacting me and offering hosting as a result of a thread like this one. By doing so they would in fact be infringing the rules of this board.

Agreed, you might just want just want to search around the offers section of WHT, or various hosting directories. Once you find a few providers then do a search for reviews on them. :)

Also Dan has a great point about rule breaking. Do you really want to get hosting from a company who can't follow a simple set of rules?
