Right now we are doing managed hosting w/ PSINet, but recent changes have made us start to look around, also with managing our own servers in mind.

However, we are wondering what's left to choose from:
* PSINet US has been sold to cogent, PSINET Europe will be sold to ClearBlue Tech./Israel Corp.
* Worldcom shared have dropped to just above $1, after they have been kicked out of the S&P500
* QWest in Europe is nearly over (QWest & KPN will no longer pay)
* Only Level(3) seems most stable, although we've heard different stories of them.

And as we are located in the Netherlands, this pretty much sums up our possibilities. Is everything indeed as bad as it seems, or will most prevail?

Are there any other options, given the fact that we need to have our servers located in Amsterdam?

This is not an easy time to switch your provider.

you sure? i just know that they recently completed the integration of Ebone's backbone which they bought off 2001.
and they seem to be the biggest player in europe if it comes to network "length" i'd say.

what did you hear?

and for others ... you just forgot C&W, if you just take the bigger players, though i know nothing about their financial situation.
& Above/MFN but their financial situation seems to be worse.
and Verio & Genuity who both operate a network in europe too, though it ain't that "big"

How about one of those carrier neutral facilities (like Interxion (http://www.interxion.com), they have something in the netherlands, possibly in Amsterdam) where you then pick your connectivity provider out of those which are left, hoping they will not disappear all together. From what I heard Interxion has a fairly good reputation here in Switzerland, they are in Zurich, some of our national telcos appear to rent space at Interxion for their needs... But the minimum you have to rent is half a rack...

The KPNQwest network in Europe is top class, they invested something like 1.8 billion euro in that piece of fibre, hehe, so I guess if they go bankrupt itīs gona be sold to some other telco and should not much affect the clients using this network?

Or do you think their partners will cancel peering because KPNQwest fails to pay?

Well... donīt know... :D

Is euros the plural of euro? :o
