I'd just go with rackshack ;) apollo 05-16-2002, 10:20 AM that machine will just die with that bandwidth level.... -Edward- 05-16-2002, 10:24 AM Originally posted by apollo that machine will just die with that bandwidth level.... You sure? i know a person on tera-byte with that setup and uses 400gb without problems why would an extra 100gb cause problems? CoreFighter 05-16-2002, 11:07 AM none would consider cobalt nowaday when you can get ensim, plesk and cpanel etc... marksy 05-16-2002, 01:07 PM None would consider a Cobalt? Better tell Sun that, there are thousands of those things out there. Not that I would, but it's really not that bad for people who aren't trained sys admins! Not that I would, but it's really not that bad for people who aren't trained sys admins! From what i heard sun has stopped deverlop cobalt line products, as well as XTR series, I saw that from a post by headsurfer somewhere, couldn't find it right now but probably can do it if you really want to see that. Cpanel, Plesk and Ensim does whatever cobalt can offer anyway, they does not require any special technique over cobalt I don't think. skylab 05-16-2002, 04:03 PM go read up the cobalt forums. the RAQ5 (550 or whatever) is out and it is nice. hopefully rackshack will start carrying them. true, i don't see how you can use any form of dynamic sites on a machine with 128mb ram, but, the RAQ4 are still very viable. stuff it with 512 and i could see you doing 200 - 400gb very easily. is this on cogent? not that it's THAT big of a deal. but, curiousity.... 311 05-16-2002, 04:39 PM Originally posted by skylab is this on cogent? not that it's THAT big of a deal. but, curiousity.... Nope, tera-byte is in Edmonton, (Canada if you didn't know :cartman: ) We don't get Cogent up here...:bawling: They use sprint, telus and AT&T skylab 05-16-2002, 04:46 PM wow, that's great. i hope they stick some RAQ550 and offer an acceptible price. :) 311 05-16-2002, 04:47 PM I agree netacore 05-16-2002, 07:28 PM I found this hilarious fromhttp://www.4webspace.com/what.html : To add PHP is $179US case 05-16-2002, 10:54 PM not hilarious , sad , just sad . MySQL and PHP bundled together for only $199US! And as an added bonus, 4WebSpace.com will also throw in phpMyAdmin at no extra charge nothing about perl. Wonder if you have to call that one in ? ... have your credit cards ready an operator is standing by No wonder its 89 bucks , its useless case skylab 05-17-2002, 02:36 AM perhaps that's just THEIR charge for THEM installing it for you? you can easily install that yourself with a dedicated server, and i wouldn't see why you'd have to have their permission to do it. Chicken 05-17-2002, 04:59 AM It is their charge yes. However I'm thinking that upgrade was around before the mysql and php packages, now it is extremely easy to install the package versions yourself. roly 05-17-2002, 06:06 AM Originally posted by case not hilarious , sad , just sad . True it looks a little expensive on paper, but for someone with the experience to run these up in 10 minutes they're left with a pretty good deal. For those without, considering it an expense of the whole purchase it's still quite competitive. With the bump in data transfer, I don't think there's a better deal around is there? Regards Gary |
