Okay, after buying a PIII 800Mhz computer w/ my 15in LCD screen nearly two years ago I felt so good. Now that I've gotten more involved with my computer (more or less, the internet), it has become a dependency from college papers to my job and I'm EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH THIS SMALL MONITOR.

At the time of my purchase, 15in was all I could get (afford and what ABS offered at the time). Now I know I need a size upgrade (of course a LCD), but I'm not sure if I should go one up to a 17in or the nice 19in.

Anyone who has a 17 or 19 in LCD monitor could you clue me in on the brand? cost? and your review?

Thanks

Samsung seems to be a very reliable/high quality brand of LCDs.

go for the 23" LCD from Viewsonic, get 2 of them with a Dual Head card and call it a day ;)

I saw a 24" LCD the other day, for $12,500 AUD (~$6750 US). Care for that? :)

Was your 15" LCD a "true" 15" as LCDs usually are? Because a 15" LCD is usually just slightly smaller than a 17" CRT anyway. 17" LCDs are becoming more common now, and aren't too badly priced. A 19" LCD could be very expensive.

I'm using a 15" Hercules ProphetView. I think they've just released a 17" model also, so that might be worth a look - http://www.hercules.com.

19 inch CRT and a 17 inch LCD.

I use the 19" for designing graphics/websites or playing games, and the lcd for everything else. :)

The thing about 17", 18", and 19" LCDs is that they're all the same native resolution: 1280x960. So when choosing which size you want you have to figure out what your eyes can stand.

Personally I find a 15" LCD at 1024x768 is great (although I am considering a 19" LCD--but waiting for the prices to drop). I dumped my 19" Trinitron CRT for a 15" LCD and I couldn't be happier. To get the most out of an LCD though, get a video card with a digital output and make sure your LCD has a digital input.

19" monitor will be best. i have 17" monitor running at 1024 x 768 and its pretty cool.

19" monitor can run 1600 x 1200 and that will provide you very large screen and where you can flot lots of toolbars and opened windows.

Dont' forget to go for good displayed card for larger monitors.

cheers.

I would NEVER buy ANY LCD monitors...
LCD monitors just can't give you the same confort, same colours,...

I suggest you to buy an IIYAMA 19" HM903DT, that's a perfect flat DiamontTron mē CRT, 1280*1024 @ 141Hz...

19" or 21" Sony Trinitron.

I'm still planning on getting one when I have some spare cash.

Got a crappy ADI 17" at the moment.

LCD'S are a wast of money. Not worth the price. Get a nice 22 inch flat screen NEC and you will have yourself one hell of a monitor.:)

I find myself going in that direction as well. My main concern is just having more visual space. Answering someone's question above, I don't think my screen is actually the 15" (more like a 13.5" to 14" screen with the additional inch or so is the monitors sides).

So hopefully we can see a downturn in prices again for LCDs so I can have pick up a 19" in a couple of months.

Hey loosers...
Just buy a powerful projector...
Point it at a wall of at least 20m * 20m...
Sit down...
and relax...

(for the real freaks: add additional second and thirth one for the walls besides you)
