Shaliza 03-31-2006, 07:23 AM ufopsi, did you see the part where he said for those that are allowed? ufopsi 03-31-2006, 07:57 AM Sorry I understood his post this way: I understand that having music stored on your server and broadcasted on your website is illegal but what about music videos is that allowed? What about music videos, is that allowed? :peace: Twinky 03-31-2006, 08:01 AM Sorry for not being clear i meant, Are music videos allowed instead of just the music? Shaliza 03-31-2006, 08:09 AM Depends on who it is. If it's a signed artist, you need to get permission. Twinky 03-31-2006, 10:11 AM Do i have to get permission through the record label or the artist ? ufopsi 03-31-2006, 12:36 PM I'd think you should seek permissions. bluedreamer 03-31-2006, 09:26 PM Do i have to get permission through the record label or the artist ? absolutely right. if someone used your work without you knowing about it you would expect the same wouldn't you? all commercial music needs a proper licence to broadcast it, radio stations pay royalties on everything they play and it would be the same for you. on the other hand if the music/video was owned by you, you wouldn't need your own permission! mezan 04-01-2006, 10:22 AM Since this is about music videos... Than how about music videos that is hosted on other server, smth like youtube.com is that legal ? bberlia 04-04-2006, 07:28 AM Any broadcast of the music videos without proper rights or licensing is illegal. If the videos are in some other server than either they have paid for the rights or else even they are doing it without permissions. If the videos are in some other server than either they have paid for the rights or else even they are doing it without permissions. So in both the cases you are liable to be prosecuted at the end of the day, this are stupid rules which does not help the artist at all! so many artists who have contracts with X company, are crying every day because the record company does not promote enough. so all this copyrights are for the benefit of a few people who own and run BMI, ASCAP, RIAA, Sound Exchange and SESAC :uzi: mitchlrm 04-05-2006, 09:31 PM People deserve to paid for their work and to control how their work is used. elfalso 04-06-2006, 01:57 AM People deserve to paid for their work and to control how their work is used. 1. can you please read my post again? 2. also can you point out who people are you talking about? 3. can you tell me just how many artist out there are not agree with little people playing music and promoting artist every day of the year for FREE? Shaliza 04-06-2006, 04:41 AM Since this is about music videos... Than how about music videos that is hosted on other server, smth like youtube.com is that legal ? It's still illegal, but a lot of people put them up on youtube anyway. I'm surprised youtube hasn't been knocked on this one yet since there are loads of music videos on there there have been put there without permission. mitchlrm 04-06-2006, 07:54 AM 1. can you please read my post again? 2. also can you point out who people are you talking about? 3. can you tell me just how many artist out there are not agree with little people playing music and promoting artist every day of the year for FREE? 1. I've read your post 2. I'm a video artist and web designer and I would object to anyone using my work without permission 3. Can you tell me how many artists would agree to anyone using their work and getting no compensation for it? This argument is just invalid. It is the law. Either follow the law or risk the consequences or request that the law be changed. |
