Hello WHTers :)

I am looking to buy a Raq550, I just have a few questions some of you could answer for me.

Looking at some images of the box it has no cdrom drive, but yet OS restore disks are supplyed. Do i have to open the case and put a cd-rom drive on the second IDE?

Also can someone quickly list the ports it has on the back VGA,Network, keyboard, mouse? etc

I cant seem to find any pics of a back of one on google :)

Cheers

You need a seperate computer with only a few supported NIC's (3COM, Intel,
and a few others) and then a crossover cable between them. You then network
boot the RaQ from the seperate computer.

I would recommend you buy a regular 1U Dell/HP/Whatever-server instead and
choose CentOS+BlueQuartz as OS. There are many known security issues with
OS 550 (2.4.19-kernel beeing the latest official one). BlueQuartz is the open-
source 550-GUI so everything is configured just the same as on a real 550, but
with the secure CentOS underneith.

Well, I guess you can -- I haven't tried. I bought
a Tyan Transport GS10-server to replace my old
RaQs. The GS10 has a LCD just as the RaQs.
