I'm interested in purchasing a three letter .net domain name. This domain was once very popular attracting millions of page views every month. Even now, with it being empty, still attracts a steady 50-60 thousand page views a month. Do you have any idea what a good offer for this domain would be?

The name does have live trade/servicemarks on it so couldn't be used for commercial purposes (this will just be a hobby site for me), does advertising revenues come under the definition 'commercial'? I think it probably does.

If thats the case then would i be infringing the trade/servicemarks if i used the domain to forward people to a similar service but with a different name?

Thanks for any help.

Advertising is commercial use. You probably would need to consult an attorney, but it would appear to me you could not utilize the name in the manner you are thinking. Therefore, its value would be $0.00. Were it usable for commercial purposes, with its current traffic, it would probably be worth somewhere between $1,000 and $5,000, but hard to answer without knowing the domain.
