View Full Version : cheap registrar reseller
fritz 05-15-2002, 04:27 AM hi!
what is the cheapest icann accredited registrar reseller?
i don't mind opensrs but for this query, i would like icann only.
thanks.
MotleyFool 05-15-2002, 05:58 AM directi.com
protector330 05-15-2002, 07:01 AM looks very cheap but the interface they offer (I could offer to my customers) is terrible.
Is there any other cheap registrar but offering a better interface for my customers? they should be able to register domains, manage their contacts...
thanks
dexter1 05-15-2002, 09:44 AM What is the problem with the interface. I have been operating with them from last 1 year. Have registered more then 1000 domains and it works perfectly fine.
U can also give cp to ur resellers to register domains themselves.
Servstra-Sales 05-15-2002, 09:44 AM I believe GoDaddy.com have a private label reseller service for domain name registrations. Their also an ICANN registrar I believe, so check them out at http://www.godaddy.com.
fritz 05-15-2002, 10:41 AM thanks for the reply.
dexter1,
please check your mail.
i hope you can help me with a few more questions.
thanks.
Nautikal 05-15-2002, 10:48 AM Here's two for you:

Best of luck
fritz 05-15-2002, 11:11 AM wow!
dotregistrar is fast.
i have a bandwidth monitor that detects bandwidth of target websites.
how is dotregistrar's interface?
thanks again!
sharkman 05-15-2002, 05:34 PM The cheapst with no doubt is reg2c.com

I think reg2c is not ICANN accredited.
Also, onlinenic.com (http://onlinenic.com) is cheaper.
sharkman 05-15-2002, 06:03 PM what does that mean exactly icann accredit, how could you sell domains othewise
thewitt 05-15-2002, 06:23 PM If you are not an ICANN accredited registrar, you would resell for one.

intercraze 05-15-2002, 10:54 PM I am a fan of OPENSRS resellers. And the best I have found is www.thenic.com . I just like the interface they have to manage accounts/domains. And it makes it easy, because you can manage all your domains with one login and it makes it simple.

dexter1 05-16-2002, 02:55 AM Dont even try Dotregistrar. It has got a very bad CP.
The user cant even create its own nameservers by himself. It has got a very bad process of profile creating.
The only charm with Dotregistrar is that its is very cheap and moreover u can give a cp to ur resellers to book domains .
But still i saw they r the worst. If ur domain gets expired they sell it to some one else.
dexter1 05-16-2002, 03:02 AM Fritz i didnt got ur mail.
Mail me again if u want more details.
mindshift 05-21-2002, 03:23 PM Does directi offer their other services automatically?
If I am hosting sites I do not want to lose them to competition because they are handling my domain registration.

reg2c is dotregistrar.com reseller.
Don't know if you're looking for a ICANN registrar reseller to purchase from, or an ICANN registrar to become a reseller for...
As a consumer, I've used 000domains.com and Stargate.com recently (very happy with 000domains - an OpenSRS affiliate, not so much with Stargate recently as they upped their prices considerably and have false advertising on the site now as a result...).
But I'm transferring everything that comes up for renewal (and new registrations) to NameCheap.com (an eNom.com reseller).
The OpenSRS management system was great for multiple domains, but went to Stargate when the price was about US$5.00 lower than 000domains. I also used 000domains for .info/.biz registrations, as Stargate's not handling them.
Stargate's management features were fine, but I simply had a personal liking for OpenSRS's a little more. Stargate has a feature to create your own personal nameservers and point them to whichever IP address you choose. I didn't need this feature, but know it's an interesting one for a webhost to have available.
Anyway, when Stargate raised their price about two months ago, I went in search of a new provider (at least see what was out there now). I came across the DirectI.com stuff. Nice prices, but I didn't know much about the management features, and I didn't particularly want to deal with a company outside of the U.S. or Canada (I like to call the Co. when I have questions or problems, which I've done with both 000domains and Stargate - Arkansas and Illinois respectively). Anyway, eNom has a pretty good reseller program going (they'll even supply you with your "own" site to resell from - registryrocket.com - take a look at how cheapestregistry.com does it at http://www.registryrocket.com/default.asp?ec=OLGSL8OVJJ61JZDI3ID6SK0GQ ), but in my opinion you've got to buy 1000 domain-years to get a competitive price (6.99 or 6.95 or something like that). Even then, you're only going to have minimal margin selling it. So, I didn't want to get into that business, and have been using NameCheap.com as a provider. All of the domains are 8.88/yr (.com/.net/.org/.info/.biz/.us/.ws/.bz/.nu). The additional features (URL Forwarding or Frame-cloaking), email forwarding, and free ownership transfer were enough additional features to make the value stand out as far as I was concerned (there are other features.. you'll have to check it out for yourself).
Annnd... the management of multiple domains is as good as, if not better than, what I had through OpenSRS.
So, thus far, I'm pleased.

fritz 05-29-2002, 07:01 AM thanks for the info.
i am currently with namecheap too! but i also want to do some reselling soon.
anyway, thanks again for the info.
clemzonguy 05-29-2002, 03:10 PM My main worry is how do you advertise your services and compete with the big boys? And then if you have a high price or a bad interface that just turns off the few potential customers you do find.
Max J. 05-29-2002, 03:27 PM Hi,
Try eNom.com
OpenSRS and eNom are best in the industry, I think :)
(reseller pricing in enom from 6.95) Awesome CP.
