I just have a question to ask. I am thinking of starting my own Hosting Company, and I like the offer of what Cogent is currently offering me plus the access lines from Sprint. I know some people here aren't fans of Cogent, but I am just pondering this thought.

For me to get started, I am looking for 15 people who need Co-Lo hosting. Here is what I would offer for the first 15 customers.

A dedicated 4Mbps Line (Redundant T-1 lines from Sprint).
32 IPs (If you need more, I will give you special pricing).
24/7 Online Tech Support .
24/7 Phone Support starting within 2 months of when I launch.
24/7 Reboots/Monitoring
DNS
UPS Backup and Power Generator

If my math is correct, a 4Mbps line will give you about 1,200GB up and 1,200GB down of monthly transfer. I will charge these 15 people $125.00 a month, for life. I will never raise your prices. For other interested clients that come after the 15 people, I will still give you a considerable discount that will be worth your while!

You may think this is one of those "This sounds to good to be true" schemes. But I have calculated that between current clients I have now and if I find 15 serious people who would like to do this, it will be worth your time!

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thank You,

Ok well I have 5 servers all boxed up and I will ship them in the morning, The other 10 are going out on Thursday..

In all seriousness what is your website? Do you have additional information regarding this offer? Also are you saying you currently have current clients who co-lo at your facility?

Currently I don't have my website up and running. I came to this idea while researching info about a new co-lo host for myself.

I was hosting with a local company in my area and due to Telco construction some fiber lines were cut that serviced my old host. I have since moved to a temp. hosting facility where my web site will be up after DNS Root update. http://www.edesignway.com.

No currently I don't have clients hosting with me in my own facility. I have brought this to their attention and they are willing to work on this with me. One client is a State of Ohio organization, another is a city sponsored group, and a third client is a High School/US Navy Organization. They are all interested!

I posted this thread to see if there is enough interest for me to pursue this idea. We all know the cost of internet connectivity, I just wanted to make sure that I would be able to handle the monthly fees I would incur. The staff that I will be working on this with hold CCNA and MSCE certificates. Once I know I can do this, I expect everything to be operational within 2 to 4 weeks with no glitches!

If you would like to personally speak to me, you can call me from 9am to 8pm EDT at 877 305 4678. I would be glad to discuss things with you.

Just a note, to mention that if more people join this idea of yours, I would be interested in also sending my server to your facility. Keep me posted.

By any chance, will the "facility" be your garage?

good question - no offense, but this is valid. Are you starting your own data center? If so where is it?

Once again a good question, no it will no be in my garage, or tucked away in my attic or in the empty storage room in the basement. The Data Center will be located in Mentor, Ohio (20min from Cleveland) in a complex called “Points East Plaza” I will have installed, as in any good data center, raised anti-static flooring, climate control, back-up generators, and 24/7 monitoring by a third party company to make sure all system are running smooth! There is also 24/7 security monitoring by Nighthawk Security to make sure the building is safe.
